Favorite Comic Book

Sandman by Neil Gaiman
The Books of Magic by Neil Gaiman

The new BatGirl series was really cool to begin with but it isn’t as good now. Issues one through about 42 or so were very cool!

I grew up with comic books. I loved reading Batman, Green Lantern, Superman, Shazaam, Spiderman, X-men, Avengers, and Captain America. I liked how marvel worked in the Greek and Norse gods. I would like to see a Captain America movie, but I don’t know how anyone could make it without it looking ridiculous.

beef

“Power of Shazam!” by DC Comics in the mid 1990’s by Jerry Ordway (writer), Peter Krause (penciller), and Mike Manley (inker), for a superhero book. I don’t know why, but Captain Marvel always has been my favorite superhero. I wish a magic word could do that much for myself.

For a funny book, go with “Milk and Cheese” by Evan Dorkin, published by Slave Labor Graphics.

For manga, a big-time testosterone booster is “YuYu Hakusho” by Yoshihiro Togashi.

My avatar is an asgardian god…guess who I like…

…And BTW, BIG Dragonball Z fan also!

I like most of Marvel/Dc’s comic without preference, but I absolutely love mangas. Berserk, Bastard!!, Dragonball (original, Z, GT, etc) Inuyasha, Cowboy Bebop, there’s too many to name. Also, european ‘bande dessinee’ has a few good one worth reading: Lanfeust de Troy, Troll de Troy (same author), XVII, Arthur, anything by Cothias will fuck up your mind, and many, many others. Comic strips of Prince Valiant, by Harold Foster are pretty good too, they aged well. The list could go on and on, but I’ll stop here.

If you count manga then “Fist of the Northern Star” would be my favourite.

I have the first issue - Absolutely Perfect!

I’ve been out of comics since I was 12, but I do like the artwork though.

The only ones worth buying to me are the Street Fighter comics.

I used it as a desktop for a while, but the color started hurting my eyes.

What is it from, though? I’ve only found it on fan sights.

been a while since i was into comics but used to love one called “Shadow Hawk” it was from image comics and only lasted a few series but it was damn good, also old x-men, and a few of the spin-off…sabertooth/gambit/magneto were awesome but never liked the wolverine ones

I read sin city for the first time when I was in the 6th grade [I’m 23]. It was the mini series focusing on Dwight. I don’t remember how many there were, but I rember waiting on the first tuesday of every month to get outta school and hit up 3rd planet [ the comic shop I went to] to grab the latest installment. I went to live with my dad shortly thereafter and found a back issue focusing on a big mean motherfucker named marv and started up thatmini series. I haven’t read a comic series since I finished those, but I don’t think I’ll ever need to.

Berserk, by Kentarou Miura

A God among mangas. Readers know.

What about Watchmen by Alan Moore, that fantastic.

Preacher

X-Men: when done right e.g the Astonishing run at moment.

Daredevil

Maus is the greatest graphic novel ever, incredible

the Ultimates
planetary is real good

Dark Knight returns, Year one and killing Joke, great Batman stories

…and does anyone remember (and did you like) the “failed” experiments from Marvel way back when?

I thought the 2099 books were great.

And what about the “New Universe”? DP7, Starbrand, etc.

Mark Gruenwald was my favorite writer for years; died in his early 40s. Just didn’t show up for work Monday, and when the office people finally thought to call home, a tearful wife told them he’d had a heart attack that weekend. His will asked that he be cremated and incorporated in a Marvel project, so they actually mixed his ashes into the black ink of a poster that showed an ensemble of marvel characters. I have one.

Spawn is one of my favorites.

Dark Knight Returns

Spider-Man when McFarlane was drawing it.

You know…honestly I think comic books would be better overall in they just did like a six issue story arc every year or whatever instead of trying to pump out 12 books a year…thats why I just pick up the occasional TPB or Graphic Novel. When you look back most of the greatest stories of all time in mainstream comics were mini/maxi series that didn’t take place in the regular series…

Watchman
Marvels
Kingdom Come
The Dark Knight Returns

Obviously such stories and Frank Millers Batman Year One and Claramont and John Bryne’s Dark Phoenix and Days of Future’s past storylines are exceptions.Take a look at Batman…how many medicore issues have there been between great story arcs such as Hush and Cataclysm.

No clue, Vash…I just found it. If you can, get the Street Fighter Eternal Challenge book. Its like 200-300 pages filled with alot of artwork from all the games, info on all the characters, and is great to have. If you need more Street Fighter pics, go to fightersgeneration.com I suggest you search it on yahoo.
