I’m taking a year off school and just working, lifting and reading. I think I’ve learned much more on my own…
Really, anything by Palahniuk is golden. If you like him, try “The Contortionists Handbook” by Craig Clevenger.
Also, although I find Ayn Rand’s writing a tad too dry, her philosophy is on point.
The entire Master and Commander 28 book series by Patrick Obrien. I’m at book 10 and still loving the characters and story.
Anything by Wilbur Smith, I’ve read them all. Mitchener as mentioned. Tolkein. I haven’t had time to read anything in several months and was thinking a good book should be in the bag for the summer.
my absolute fav is catch 22 its brilliant
the unbearable lightness of being
zen and the art of motorcycle maintenace
by the sword- a history of swordfighting
the tao of physics
stalingrad and berlin the downfall-if you want to read a fantastic account of the eastern front during world war 2
I just finished reading G. G. Marquez’s “100 Years of Solitude” after a few people mentioned it on this thread. It was a great read, and why I started this thread to begin with, to find some authors I had been missing out on. If you haven’t read it, it’s worth picking up!
Thanks for the “suggestions”, I’m starting another book mentioned this wknd., Perez-Reverte’s Club Dumas.
