Farmer's Log 2

PRETTY LITTLE TREES BOBBY RIP[/quote]

I fucking loved that guy! His trees were the best.

Brett- please, please please tell me you fish?!! that place looks awesome !!!

Potentiation.

i think it is called.

i remembered a word.

heh.

James - Ha ha. No for a change I was unladen.

MJ - You could be right about the CNS angle because when I used to do snatches first it wasn’t so noticeable. My shoulder still doesn’t like snatches, but I could try some DB jump squats beforehand next time to stimulate it. Worth a try.

dday - The countryside around me is beautiful, but most of the villages and towns here aren’t very attractive because they were “thrown up” really quickly around the turn of the century as cheap housing for miners. They’re nice in a functional, gritty kind of way, but not pretty.

OG - No I don’t fish, I don’t have the patience. But I do know an old guy called Gordon who fly fishes and he calls by on his way home and I buy his fish off him. So I get great fish without the frustration, WIN, WIN. I’ve eaten several rainbow trout from that particular reservoir, less than an hour after they were caught and they were great, really sweet not muddy as some can be.

Alexus - Well remembered.

Matty and Git,

Awww, I love Bob Ross. He has a cult following here, mainly among students because his show was on at half ten in the morning and the only people watching tv at that time were lazy arse students. I used to watch him when I worked shifts. The guy was just soooo mellow and chilled out. He’d make you feel so relaxed just watching him. Easy listening for the eyes.

Don’t ask me to choose between him and Norm “New Yankee Workshop” Abram though. I love Norm too. He always makes carpentry look so easy and pleasurable, not like when I do it. I never once saw him have a tantrum, swear or throw a chisel through the f***ing wall.

I honestly believe all the world’s conflicts could be solved if we would just put aside our differences for a few moments, flop onto a sofa together and watch Bob and Norm weave their magic.

Picture the scene… A Taliban stronghold somewhere in Helmand Province…

Mustafa: “Ahmed, Ahmed come quick, we have captured a Western journalist we are going to be-head him”.

Ahmed: "Ohhhh, can I just watch the end of this. Bob’s doing one of his less common “breaking waves on a beach” paintings?.

Mustafa: “Well OK. We’ll do it after this”. [Mustafa sits down].

Ahmed: “But after this Norm’s gonna be making an exact replica of a Shaker blanket box he found in an antiques shop in Nantucket”.

Mustafa: “Ahhhh OK. Well we’ll be-head him after that then”. [Grabs a handful of tortilla chips and sits back].

4 1/2 hours elapse.

Mustafa to Ahmed: “He makes it look so easy” [In wonderment]

Ahmed: “Yeah he does the water by just dragging the mountains down using vertical brush strokes with a number 2 fan brush…etc, etc”

Mustafa: "Cool! [Completely engrossed]

The word of Bob and Norm spreads and in a few short months the war is over.

Fast forward to Capitol Hill where Norm Abram is receiving his honours from President Palin. The great Bob Ross is honoured posthumously.

Norm Abram? I love that guy too! Makes it look so easy.

Sorry, got a bit carried away there.

I just noticed you deadlift with bare shins. That is badass.

Dude looks all sexified when he’s clean shaven.

Brett…Awesome PR…I cant believe I just said that to guy who doesn’t fish!!! and x2 on on deadlift bare shins!!! And that 210 BW you are carrying at 5’8" is looking pretty damn nasty ( my kids tell me that’s a compliment)…

Nice PR Brett, thats awsome.

Great Pulling- beautiful scenery

your form is fantastic really fucking good work.
there I used that superlative properly.

I do jumps before some lower training-
the bb complex warmup vid I posted has been hitting the spot lately.

soon I want to get back to doing- standing broad jumps as part of the warmup

maybe some jump shrugs or clean pulls- and drop the bar

You forgot that the two talaban guys take a big hit off the bong when they sit down. Or they eat a handfull of mushrooms. Then the trees and waves really stand out.

Umm . . . yeah.

Can you try to smile for the camera the next time you DL? Look like you’re enjoying it?

haha.

really solid looking pulling. wish mine looked like that.

Nice PR Brett, solid as always. For some reason I always thought you we’re like 6’1" for some reason, not that it matters.

Awesome pullin!

CK, OG - Thanks guys. Pulling bare shins is no big deal for me I rarely scrape them. If I scrape anywhere it’s usually just above the knee cap. So I use a bit of talcum powder there. Shit!! I hope that’s legal.

Matty, dude - Thanks

Eco - LOL.

KP - Smile you say?, Interesting that you bring this up. I read an in-depth article the other day by Andy Bolton “The deadlift and when to smile”. He’s in favour of smiling as the bar passes the knees, whereas Dave Tate and Dan John say you get more “smile carryover” at lock-out. Yet some of the best deadlifters (Koklyaev, Konstantinovs) don’t smile at all. It’s all a bit confusing. I wonder if there’s an EliteFTS video on youtube about this?

Kev - Thanks for the compliment. I’m going to start with some DB jump squats tomorrow to see if they help that first squat set feel less shit.

Alexus - Your deadlifting is coming on nicely and I’ve seen you do synchronised deadlifting with other people, that’s far more impressive.

dday - 6’1"? Ha ha. No I’ve always been a short arse. I’m actually 5’8" and three quarters, but if you say that you sound like an 8 year old. I round it down rather than up to prove I’m not insecure about my height. A psychologist would probably say the fact that I do that means that I am.
My Nan who I don’t see that often thinks I’m over 6ft, Bless her! I haven’t the heart to tell her the reason she thinks I’m so tall is that she’s shrinking.

06/08/2011

Too sore all over (in a good way) after deads on Thursday to contemplate cycling or running so went for a walk. Visited this waterfall 20 minutes from my house. It’s the highest in South Wales. Been here 11 years and never seen it.

The walk was short, but very steep. In fact there was a warning sign saying that if you had a medical condition to be aware that the very steep walk down is also the only way back up!

I was a bit annoyed that the people walked into my photo, but it turned out that the photos without them in weren’t as impressive because you couldn’t get an idea of the scale.

Awesome…I think I found my new vacay spot!
