Gay guys are too fashion forward to do such a thing. But I’d be fine with it. There was a (skinny, hairy, horribly ugly) guy at my college whose (fat horribly ugly) girlfriend apparently forced him to wear a dress. Sure it was gross to see his hairy ankles but it didn’t hurt anyone else.
cute. dipshit.
but “i’m” right in that most gay guys would never do that. it’s only the closeted, popular kids (much like yourself i would assume) that really are gay but don’t have the balls to come out because they might lose some friends, that would do that.

I don’t understand what happened here. Quoting function error. While I do despise you and wish you would die, I would never put words in your mouth.
jk about the death thing lolz!
now you’re just being silly.
ok, they should have the same free speach rights afforded to others.

No, you can’t and shouldn’t preach religion or politics or anything else like that in school. You cannot demonstrate with a gay rights sign in the hallway.
Even if they are converting students in the hall?
not all public buildings
currently they don’t need probable cause for searches. I’m kinda up in thhe air on this. I do think a school should be able to search lockers (its public property), I’m not sure they should be able to randomly search students.
I said that to use your frame of reference, I don’t personally believe it. A school can have separate bathrooms for genders, they can have separate dress codes too. I also don’t think it has to be an officially banned item to be deemed inappropriate.

since this thread has degraded into just you and i arguing back and forth i say we just call a truce. it doesn’t look like we’re going to convice one another of anything. this is why i avoid the PWI forums (i know this is in GAL but it’s PWI subject matter).
Personally, I think that when you start having separate events/facilities etc. for groups that don’t consider themselves “mainstream” or whatever, you further alienate them from the rest of society.
It is not unlike Brown vs. Board of education (separate but equal school for blacks & whites is inherently unequal). The more these people are separated from eachother, the worse things get. In order to have true equality, there can be no separation of groups, whether it be race, religion, sex, whatever.
I understand that people might want to be with people they can identify with (for instance, exclusively African American TV/magazines etc.), but at the same time this further separates them from everyone else.
Until we can have a true homogeneous society society, we will continue having conflicts among one another because of our differences. Separating people only makes things worse.
You know, I came in here to give the stock “Why does anyone care about what someone they don’t know does in private” answer, then I saw the point you made there. And it made me think. I’m surprised I haven’t seen that point made more often, as it’s the first time I’ve seen it. And you are absolutely correct about it, as far as I’m concerned.
The best thing we can do, as a society, for these people (“These” being defined as anyone who lives any kind of alternate lifestyle that is subtly or directly ostracized by mainstream society) is to show tolerance and acceptance to the point of it being a part of the norm.
We need to realize what they already know. It’s no big deal.

eh, i just like arguing.
yay for arguing! (not sarcasm)
i think the actions of the students should be not based on disruption, but on what’s respectful. proselytizing in the hallway is not, but the things i mentioned are. picketing can be, but it can devolve very quickly. this is why most schools allow clubs based on political or social alignments barring that they do not force ideas on others. i think we can agree guns and alcohol don’t belong on a high school campus. and i actually agree with you about the search and seizure. lockers are owned by the school and while i don’t think they should be needlessly searched the school does have the right. i think it’s unwise to begin randomly searching students.
i understand that they can have seperate dress codes. this school did not. and i do think that an item must be on the banned list for it to be inappropriate. if we’re going to adhere to the rules then they must remain black and white. if something new arises then amend the rules, don’t just say it’s not allowed.
as an aside, we have begun to see (i’m an architect) clients asking about the legalities of having only unisex restrooms. while i don’t think this will ever be a part of school design it is an interesting trend nonetheless.
I think there’s 2 sides to this story, not only that you cant believe shit of what the news says.
I will say this, by making a second prom after the first one had been canceled, and not inviting everyone is a damn shame, the parent organizers oughtta be ashamed of themselves. I give them a monster fuck you.
BUT
I also know that in the Bay City Public School district (where I go to school) you can in fact bring a friend, same sex or not, We do it all the time at all other school events like that. I’m going to guess that this girl was not only an attention whore, but a person who probably rubbed the wrong people the wrong way. I have a freind who is lesbian, and she never makes it known to everyone that she is, and she never makes anyone uncomfortable (probably helps that I would bang her). This girl must have rubbed someone wrong who’s parent was organizing the new prom to not have them invite her.
Not only that, what girl wants to wear a tux to prom!?
