Explain Republicans to Me

Actually I take it back pitbull. You had every intention to prove that socialism is “OK” with your ridiculous question.

Your response to JPCleary who posted an article - “America is a Republic, not a Democracy” was -

"holy shit an article by a circle jerker, I am sure it is ripe with onjectivity, probably is NOT trying to promote an agenda  Great stuff  Not

I am pretty much writing you off as impossible to reason with. I’ll leave you with a few words of wisdom -

“If we advert to the nature of republican government, we shall find that the censorial power is in the people over the government, and not in the government over the people.”
– James Madison

“We are now forming a Republican form of government. Real Liberty is not found in the extremes of democracy, but in moderate governments. If we incline too much to democracy, we shall soon shoot into a monarchy, or some other form of dictatorship.”
–Alexander Hamilton

“Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide.”
– John Adams, 1814

“The adoption of Democracy as a form of Government by all European nations is fatal to good Government, to liberty, to law and order, to respect for authority, and to religion, and must eventually produce a state of chaos from which a new world tyranny will arise.”
– Duke of Northumberland, 1931

“Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos.”
– John Marshall, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court

“I have long been convinced that institutions purely democratic must, sooner or later, destroy liberty or civilization, or both.”
– Thomas Babington Macaulay

I’m sure you won’t read any of this, but hey, worth a try.

Just curious on what you think my nefarious motivation for starting a thread is, I will be honest; today I am a little bored and have a little time to kill

I read the constitution in high school; I think my memory will suffice for this conversation. If everybody here just read the constitution then I would not be think your suggestion stupid .

So you got me straight, I was asking a question? Do you understand :)?

MY smiley face indicates when I laugh or sometimes smile. Maybe you could call it enhanced communication

NO I will not base my opinion on what others tell me, Like Bill Roberts comment on property rights, I see his point, I just disagree with it. But that is why I asked the question.

Ok, you were asking an honest question then. I apologize for thinking that you had other intentions for starting that thread.

I’m glad you read the Constituion in high school. Now I’m asking you an honest question that I am truly curious about -

Did you comprehend the Constitution? I mean you don’t have to even know every detail but did you understand the parts about limited government?

The words no and not employed in restraint of government power occur 24 times in the first seven articles.[/quote]

The Constitution covers the structure, function, limits, but it is a legal document, and quite complex. But I feel I understand it as well as most. I do not feel that it is a religious or dogmatic document.

I feel that todayâ??s world is considerably different from the time it was written and it requires an interpretation in some instances to maintain the spirit of the Authors.

Does that answer your question? It would be interesting to test everybody in T nation that is an Authority

Let me ask you a question is it constitutional for Alaska to tax its oil for the rest of America? I know my question is a little more pointed

I do not believe that Socialism is a good Government, I do believe what most Circle Jerkers call Socialism is democracy. We are a republic but a Democratic Republic and Democracy has its place.

As far as sticking your fingers in your orifices and singing, it does not surprise me:)
