Examinations & Lifting

From my experiences at university, it is best to study the night before, along with getting a good night’s rest. The next day, prior to your test, go over the material one more time (skim through it). You might even want to pop a Spike before. I took a Spike before the GRE and I killed the test.[/quote]

I agree and disagree. Depends on the difficulty of the test. It’s true though that I’ve never spent more than 3 days proper work for an exam.

Maths wise I like to do it in 4 phases.

Phase 1: Review lecture notes and make annotations.
Phase 2: Familiriaze self with problem methodology & proofs.
Phase 3: (Day before exam) Memorize important results and problems.
Phase 4: (Hour before bed the night before and 2 hours till exam) take mental note (picture) of key stuff and test myself on how to do problems.

I find that 6 hours sleep is optimal and some breathing excerciees/meditation is key to not being stressed at all. I like walking to an exam feeling cool as a cucumber. It helps to think. Spike is amazing just before the exam.

Yeah, that’s about what I do. Never tried Spike (or any stimulant really).

Was once in a similar boat as you swiss. Studied in engineering and they hammer you with mathematics of the most twisted kind. Eventually it got to be enough and I too found I had a hundredfold the motivation to lift vs crunch the numbers.

My best advice is to consider the courses you must take as a short-term necessary evil, whereas the lifting is a lifelong commitment. I enjoyed and generally excelled in mathematics but too much is too much IMO…nevertheless, you gotta work through the courses, so suck it up as best you can…exercise is great for clearing the mind and a clear mind is always best for crunching numbers anyway

For the record, I found I did my best math at night. That`s also when I get my eureka moments and do my best writing. Similar experiences?

My (tired) 2 cents…

As someone who discovered coffee later in life, and after my university days…I do regret not having made acquaintance with this wondrously invigorating bean earlier on.

Does wonders for training too.

You can just do like all the American kids do, buy Adderal (dextro-amphetamine) and cram on speed.

Having played around with speed a time or two I can`t imagine cramming anything but beer down my throat on that shit…

Wait…what?
