Ex-Gf Left Me, "Still Loves Me." Help?

There is no source more credible than an irritable man with a mesh cap recording himself in the drivers seat of his leased pickup truck.

Ok so using all of your points, about ifs and maybes and some men and some women, then we can agree that across the board there are going to be good and bad members of both sexes…but it still doesn’t speak to the “need” or even a rational defense for 3rd wave feminism.

I am only speaking against this new breed of feminism and Its a relentless onslaught being picked up by the media (from Gillette to movies to changing our kids comic book characters to females ahem…Thorina anyone?)

I just see it as, rich Western females into this kind of thing should go save N.African girls from getting their clits cut off, or fight human sex trafficking from form Soviet Countries, or the mass aborting of female babies in China…these are real issues against females NOT some sob story taking away male athletes scholarship money to give to females, or an after school special about GRRL power.

But, ok I’m done with it at this point, I’m not going to even go back and forth with you, if you really think I am playing victim Olympics then I guess you don’t know what that even means.

Did you skip her first paragraph in that post?

If that were true, you would have not written your response and bumped this thread.

Sure, and I could as easily say to you that perhaps you should stop poring through comic books looking for insult and go help third world or Soviet men find ways to pay for their daughters’ needs so human trafficking won’t hold appeal. Maybe you should set up a foundation to raise money for the poor male athletes left out in the cold by the nasty grrrls.

Of course it would be silly for me to say those things because why on earth would you do those things? It’s really not your job to ensure that Thai girls have strong, financially capable and devoted dads, nor is it your responsibility to pay for young football and basketball players, plus if you really got worked up and passionate enough in that direction to look into helping solve this problem you’ve outlined, you’d probably encounter that the best of the male athletes are living larger than you are, and that there is no shortage of funding for successful programs, which most often means male. Sure, around the country there are programs dealing with challenges over their collegiate sports funding, but I suspect that by and large the whole things is healthy AF and there is no need for men to rise up and help their downtrodden brethren.

You complain about these feminists nitpicking and magnifying their grievances…you don’t see a pot/kettle dynamic here? Like, whoTF cares if there’s a female comic character? In America we vote with our wallets. Either she’ll increase profits or not. If not, she’ll fade into the background. If she does well, more female characters will follow.

So let me ask it as a direct question rather than a rhetorical one: who the fuck cares if there is a female comic character, or even several? Who the fuck cares if there are movies made (e.g. Wonderwoman) which center on them? Where is the skin off your teeth except as a talking point? And if it is a talking point, is it possible that it’s a bit overblown and shrill?

Which is not to say that I enjoy shrill feminists complaining about their petty grievances, but rather to say that I don’t enjoy it from either direction.

Completely off topic … was curious how I could reach out offline - I have some professional questions for you if you have time to chat?

I’ve added an email address to my profile, @polo77j. It’s only going to be up briefly as A) I don’t want hate mail, and B) I never check it, so the hate mail would pile up, lol.

Just sent you an email … let me know (through email) if you got it … TIA

I did not, though I got a notification about this post at that address. Checked spam, nothing there.

NOPE, NOPE, AND NOPE. Bad idea!!

Tried again

Sorry, @polo77j, it’s because I fucked it up when I entered it in my profile, and then forgot that I’d written it separately for that. So when I kept getting notifications, I thought it must be correct. It’s fixed now.

Thanks … got it … just sent you ANOTHER email

Since you are asking me a direct question I will answer. For what its worth, I personally don’t read comics, but my oldest son at 4 years old does.

Perhaps you didn’t get my reference to Thorina? If you did, you’d know that the creators of this character (based off of the Nordic god Thor, with historical and cultural relevance) made him go away and come back with as a woman.

Much like making Spider man Hispanic or Captain America black…why? Instead of creating something like Black Panther (a character clearly centered on a strong role model for black kids, particularly black males) lets just take an old character and completely change them to suite our goal. Now to use your point, if its not a big deal, then why change a character at all? Especially why change a character based on the culture of a real group of people into a woman? Cultural Marxism anyone?

This statement is beyond ignorant. Have you read anything about the number of male scholarships that have been cut to make funding for women’s sports? This isn’t done by “Nasty grrls” though I’m sure you wish it was. Its done by the egalitarian police of a growing number of universities. Cutting entire programs for mens sports and cutting the available scholarships for mens sports, for womens sports that nobody cares about? Sounds fair. Oh yeah, but how masogonystic of me…perhaps we need to create more programs and spend more money to make sure people actually give a shit about female athletics…WNBA anyone?

About as true as you responding to tell me that. Sorry to have forced your hand to reply.

I said done at this point - that point being the end of my post.

But I didn’t say I was done. How does that make sense?

Because you said I bumped the thread back up, like it should’ve went away. Maybe I took the bump part the wrong way.

You did. Wasn’t saying the thread should go away: I was saying the conversation was already done at that point. Were you also done, there was no need to reply.

Is your four-year-old pretty upset over this? For some reason I doubt that he is. Which begs the question of why you are upset over this. Why not read Greek and Roman mythology to your son so he’ll know the difference between literature created thousands of years ago and…well, comic books? And hey, you can discuss the changes the Romans made to the Greek writings, which might be an interesting compare-and-contrast, which would ready him for the leap to modern comics. I read with mine. They don’t seem particularly turned around by comics or ads that distort ancient writing, which let’s face it is pretty fantastical and should be valued for its insight into the minds writing it rather than treating it as some sort of law. It’s fiction. Teach your son to discern differences and question for himself what motivates them, e.g. “the minds of today’s comic book writers live in a different world from people living 4K years ago and hence their imaginings will differ.”

Yes, well, proving my point that YOUR offer to me that I should go save N. African girls is silly in the extreme. Sorry, but a single Gillette commercial isn’t moving enough to me to prompt action in any direction. It’s a commercial. Just a commercial.

So I again offer to you, since you’re the one experiencing strong emotion around men’s issues, that you should perhaps mentor fatherless boys or send money to places where men cannot earn enough to feed their families, or hell, just read to your kid so he knows about the original Thor as well as the newly imagined one.

I don’t have a problem with men OR women. I have a problem with people thinking there’s some sort of giant gender war over action figures and sports funding as I have a problem with people who think someone opening a door for them is a violation of their personhood.

Shrill is shrill.

You love the word Shrill.

You offer to me…you’re full of BS

You shouldn’t assume about what I have or have not done in the world. I don’t need recognition or a medal, its just something you do to better things around you when possible. That’s something you do as a good person, regardless of gender. You are making huge generalizations about me as a person, yet I have only talked about 3rd wave feminism…nice. You are showing your colors though.

You again miss the point I make about modern feminism completely, yet continue to defend it. You talk about Shrill, yet you are coming at me as if I have attacked “womanhood” when I simply call out the largely powerful (in media and Hollywood) 3rd wave feminist agenda. I never once said I have a problem with women. I love women for being women. Women and men are different and that is what makes us tick as humans…we compliment each other.

For what its worth, a large part of the issue I mention isn’t even brought on by women or what is good or bad for women. Its much larger than that.

The problem is with modern egalitarianism and demonization of masculinity pushed by the certain powers that be in our entertainment and news media. This includes Modern Feminism as part of its mission. Its that simple. Not traditional women’s rights…the modern form of feminism which seeks to make us believe women are just like men. Its just a false god, that simple.

Thanks, but I don’t need your recommendations on what literature to read my kids. You’re skipping past the point of why is it necessary to modify and indoctrinate young minds to a certain way of thinking?

Except for you having a problem or not having a problem doesn’t change the reality of the situation. The fact that universities are forced to hand out an equal number of sports scholarships to females IS an issue. Many males in these schools rely on those scholarships and could potentially make long term careers out of something related to that sport and the education received. The fact that they’ve moved to drop traditional sports like wrestling from the Olympics yet keep adding things “ring toss” or expressive ballet or whatever modern “who wins is all relative” sport IS an issue. That is egalitarianism pushing this 100%.
