I met Scottie Pippen a few years back. Biggest jerk athlete (or celebrity) I’ve ever met. We asked him for an autograph and he just blew us off like we weren’t standing there. My mom says ‘C’mon, give the kids some autographs.’ and he just kept walking away. My uncle says ‘you ain’t nothing without Jordan’ and I’m sure he heard it but didn’t turn around.
When N’Sync were at the peak of their popularity, I met their dance choreographer at a place where I used to work. An N’Sync video was playing on our TV, and he said ‘yeah, I directed that dance part’ said it really arrogant and stuck up. Walked around like he was the man.
I always find it funny when the local celebrities think they are on top of the world. The second you leave town, no one knows who you are, and no one cares.
T, I’ve never met him but have heard Pippen takes the cake. When he played here for the Rockets he apparently made a habit of being a total dick to any and everyone. A local bar/restuarant dubbed him “No tippin’ Pippen” 'cause he would ring up a huge tab, treat everyone like shit and leave without tipping a single dime. Like Wol said about Don Johnson you can just watch an interview with Pippen and tell he’s not a good human being.

The worst part is you know he is some kid’s hero. Some kid worshiped his every move. I know sports figures didn’t intentionally sign up to be role models for kids when they sign the contract, but it comes with the job. Just like I don’t like making photo copies, it sucks man, but it’s part of the job.
Oh yeah, I DID meet Frank Shamrock when I was 16. He came in with his wife to Kinko’s where I worked and was trying to print out some flyers for his step (half?) brother Ken Shamrock’s UFC return fight.
He was a cool dude and pretty big, but said, “Everyone is afraid of me but, honestly, my wife is the real bulldog in the relationship.” She was maybe 5’5, had something wrapped around her head and looked like she had left a psych ward. Seemed nice but was a little cold.

At the Rock the Bells concert in SF a couple years ago (the one with Rage and the Wu-Tang), I had a couple of beers with Black Thought from The Roots. We were chillin’ at the beer stand next to the stage during Wu-Tang’s performance and for some reason, no one really noticed him, even though he was wearing the same shit he’d been wearing on the stage 2 hours beforehand. He was pretty cool, but he didn’t buy me any beer.
That’s my favorite rapper which makes you my new hero (for a moment), meaning if I ever run into you in SF I will ask for your autograph but only so I can say I got a signature from the dude who met Black Thought.
And if you deny me I will come right back to this thread and list you as a shitty celebrity.
?uestlove sometimes DJs at some of the local (though crappy) clubs/lounges in the Bay Area when The Roots put on a show. I hear he is a super nice guy.

I know man. It sucks finding out your hero beats his wife or has a drinking problem or doesn’t pay taxes, etc… They didn’t ask for that responsibilty/burden but like you said it comes with the priveledge of making millions to play a childs game. That’s why I always respected Barkley. There was a sportswriter who wrote “Most pro athletes are jerks who want you to think they’re nice guys. Barkley’s a nice guy who wants you to think he’s a jerk.”
No Tippin Pippen is pretty fucking funny nickname to be fair
Oh yeah…
Terrel Owens used to go to this one bar or restaurant around here. He would take about 20 people with him, hog up the wait staff, then DEMAND that he be comped the ENTIRE meal because he was an athlete. He got kicked out of that place.

Yeah it’s pretty catchy. I’m sure that’s why I remember it all these years later. I don’t remember what restuarant it was but always thought it was cool that they had no problem calling him out like that.
I once met Harrison Ford. I was so nervous. I went up to him and he told me that he was indeed Harrison Ford and gave me an autograph. He even signed my shirt “Han Solo, may the Force be with you”. Great guy.
For real though, I met Roy Jones Jr. in Pensacola. Real nice guy; he let me take a picture with him.
So far, any celebrities I’ve met were really cool.
A few years ago I was in DC, walking 2 big ass dogs in a park. Walking toward me was a dude with wild hair, sun glasses, with a hot girl and a little kid on a leash (one of those just-started-walking kid harnesses). He was wearing a “Cabo Wabo” t-shirt. I just said “Hi”, he smiled and said “How are you?”. He was friendly. Yeah, I realized it was Sammy Hagar, and later verified that they played a show that weekend in DC. I could have been cooler, but in retrospect, I’m sure he appreciated me giving his family their space.
Curtis Joseph- One of the nicest guys I’ve met, real down to earth and of all the stories about him and fans I’ve heard, all say he is a great guy. Real nice guy and now he is dating a playboy bunny!
Dominik Hasek- Was on a plane with him heading to Czech Republic and that faggot wouldn’t give me an autograph, I heard he was a real douchebag about that kind of stuff
Steve Mckickan (Leafs old goalie coach)- Trained with him, real smug asshole. Now that he got fired I guess he’s the worlds 31st best goalie coach.
A few stories I’ve heard from people that have met some NHL celebs.
Henrik Lundqvist- One of the guys I work with met him at a photoshoot and he said he was really nice, took pictures with everyone and signed autographs. Apparently the night before he was out partying with Gretzky’s daughter till 5am haha. Also a lulzy fact his jock is made to “Swedish Build”
Mike Bossy and Tom Barrasso- Douchebags both of them, team USA sent them to an autograph signing and they could not have chosen two worse guys.
Eric Lindros- Somebody I know played street hockey with him as a kid and he was going all out, they were just happy to be playing with a first overall draft pick and he was trying to snip little 10 year olds.

For the MMA fans, I used to go to UFCs when MMA was only legal in 2 or 3 states. Back then you could walk right up to the cage before and after the events and there were fighters all over.
Some of the really cool guys, Renzo Gracie, Pat Militech, Guy Mezger, Kevin Randleman, Mark Coleman, Tito Ortiz, Don Frye, Guy Mezger, Jerry Bolander. Semmy Schilt Signed palmed my head and signed the top of my hat without me lowering my head at all and i’m 6’1". Chuck Lidell was pretty cool, Frank Sammrock is in his own reality but still cool to fans, Wallid Ismail is crazy as shit but loves the fans.
Not so cool… Mark Kerr was kind of a Dick. And people talk a lot of shit about Royce but I’ve trained with him a few times and he was always cool as hell.
And in Iraq General Petraeus called me a hero. Saw him in the DFAC and was like “How’s it goin Sir.” and he was all like “How’re you doin Hero!” so yea, no word of a lie.
Royce is funny. He was here at my gym for a semminar a couple of months back and we were promoting an MMA event that night. It was hilarious walking round the event with him. He loves the attention.
I have often thought, that kind of fame would be cool. To be hugely famous in certain circles but able to walk down the road without getting mobbed outside of that.

In early '05 I was dating this chcik that bartended at the new hotspot in town called Joia. Dennis Rodman came in, ordered like 10 grand worth of shit and tried to walk his tab. I don’t mean didn’t want to pay, I mean tried to leave without saying anything. Someone spotted him and the manager chased him down and demanded payment.
Rodman flipped out and started yelling shit like “I’m Dennis Rodman. These people are here because of me” to which the manager replied “Maybe 5 years ago buddy. Now pay me or your has been ass is going to jail”. Rodman paid. My girl didn’t have any direct contact with him, but according to the waitresses he was no longer “charming” and just kinda creepy and weird.

I’ve met Heather Langenkamp (Nancy in the original Nightmare on Elm Street) Super nice, still very hot, she gave me two free autographs for my classroom because I was teaching High School at the time. Gunnar Hansen, the original Leatherface was very cool, and my personal favorite, Bruce Campbell. A totally awesome guy, very down to earth. Lou Ferrigno was really cool as well. The only dickish “celebrity” I’ve met was Tom Savini. He was a total prick.
played pool with Bruce Campbell in portland, he has a house in Oregon (medford I think), all the hipster emo fags in the place were to afaid to talk to him. I just grabbed a pool cue, walked up to him and said “This is my Boom Stick!”, and he cracked up. MY friends and I played a few games with him and his buddies, good times-very funny and down to earth guy. About a year later I went to his book signing and he actually recognized me. It was funny because I asked him to sign the book “this is my boom stick”, and then asked him how many times he heard that today-he kinda laughed and said “ummm, surprisingly that’s the first one!” and looked over at the line. It then dawned on me that it was 99% percent butch women(ie Zena fans) wow.

cromwell 2007, you could kill Danzig? I’m pretty sure he trains in Jeet Kun Do… sorry he was a dick though.
While I was not really being figurative, lets do the tale of the tape. Danzig is a 5ft tall rock singer. Nice that he trains. I am a plus ex marine from South fucking Boston. While MR Danzig is buff and maybe a couple years younger(not sure) He did not have 9 MMA bouts in the 90’s. I did. Most of them before weight classes were set. At 185-190, I was far from the biggest guy there. I also finished 8-1. Had a few Muay Thai contests during that time as well.
So in conclusion, I don’t sweat Danzig much…It’s not like he’s 50cent or something. Fiddy will pop a cap in your ass. Allegedly

Not nearly the same thing, but I saw CMC General Hagee live in person once when he toured the barracks in Quantico.
