Dependent upon where he goes, this will probably happen.

I am so appalled by my alma mater this morning. Dunno if any of you have read up on this but a former Penn State coaching icon (Paterno’s long time D coordinator) is facing charges of violating 8 young kids - there are witnesses so it is pretty certain he’s guilty. The charges are atrocious.

Also multiple high ranking officials in hte school learned of it and never reported it to the police.

Scandals just don’t happen at PSU. Not only is this shocking but I feel sick for those kids (some of them now adults) and their families.

Problem is Penn state will get massacred for this, at Least Joe Pa did the right thing. It is not his responsibility to follow up after he reported it, the Pedo was no longer even coaching at Penn after Joe Pa found out.
Agreed - I’m not mad at JoePa, I’m mad at the university and those who didn’t report it (and obviously Sandusky himself).

The guy started a nonprofit charity for at-risk youth, god knows how many of those poor kids suffered and didn’t tell anyone.
Again I don’t agree with this. Paterno mishandled the situation as much as the university did. Why does he get a pass?
He did exactly as he was supposed to by reporting it. The way the reports are written they seem to indicate he just knew something improper happened and didn’t know the extent. He was assured they would investigate it fully.

Could he have done more? Perhaps. But he’s not nearly as culpable as several others.

I do think he should step down for other reasons, maybe this will be the straw that breaks the camel’s back.

So if it was your son and Paterno did nothing more than report it to the AD who casually swept it under the rug, you would be ok with that? Knowing that for 12yrs that he was getting away with it. Paterno made a devastating mistake by not going to the police.
I would not go after Joe Pa I would go after the guy he reported it to, chain of command.

I also agree he should have reported to the police, but what happens in this is people looking for a scape goat and I personally do not think the HC is responsible for this at the college level. Also not saying he should not get some repercussions for not following up, but ultimately the pedo and the AD should be hung and shot.

I agree with what you are saying but to not share in the responsibility of this seems a little irresponsible. I just think that going to the AD and than washing your hands of all of it is just plain wrong. Let’s face it, he knew what was going on, whether anyone chooses to believe that is up to them. All I know is if I knew what was happening, especially to 10yr olds I would immediately go to the authorities.

He did was he was supposed to do, he just didn’t go the extra mile. I wouldn’t say he’s blameless but he has like 0.1% of the blame compared to others involved.

If anything it should be McQuery who went to the police, he’s the one who actually saw it. Tough to go to the police if you haven’t seen anything yourself and only have hearsay and no evidence (JoePa’s situation).

I guess when you are the face of the institution, I would expect more. That’s all I’m saying. Do I think Paterno should be burned at the cross? No, I just think he shoulda gone after this with the same ferocity he did/does when recruiting.

I think first it needs to be investigated, you know how the media is. I have a hard time believing that if Joe had full knowledge of what the Pedo was doing it would have been handled different. BUT if Joe knew the whole story and sat on it himself, then shame on him and I hope his career is forever tainted.

I mean remember the whole Texas Tech thing, later on the full story came out and Craig James came out to be a full fucking douche bag.

I think Joe Pa retires period this is his last year.

I still think what makes me most sick about this story is the cretin was running a nonprofit charity for at-risk youth for 30 years. It makes me shudder.

Yes beware of wolfs in sheep’s clothing. I hope they really murder this fucker.

I always liked my dads way of handling these types of people.

Nail their balls to a tree stump, hand them a blunt rusty razor and then set the stump on fire.

LOl again I have been on record saying the Boys were one year away, 8-8 and 9-7, we are retooling.

Like I told WC, your season balanced on the two Smiths, Alex and Aldon.

Giving Aldon all the credit for our defense isn’t entirely accurate. Bowman has been incredible at ILB replacing Spikes. Sopoaga has been an improvement over Franklin at NT, and Harbaugh’s offense is light years ahead of last year’s.

I was at the Niners-Skins game and watching that 30yd TD pass to our fullback in person was the shit.

You had no serious pass rush, how much is Aldon getting doubled and chipped to help Bowman and the others now wreck havoc?

Bowman is more getting helped by Sopoaga - he’s just a tackling machine and has blanket coverage on all TEs and RBs.

Smith has been awesome at rushing the passer for sure. I’m just saying other guys have stepped up as well. Also, Carlos Rodgers has been way better for us at CB than he was for the Skins

edit - those double teams used to be on Justin Smith. They rush the same side and you can only double one at a time, it’s been killing almost every OL.
