I remember in Chicago, on WGN radio one of the djs told a story about Cheez-its and one of his sons. Apparently, he was watching the kids while his wife was away and allowed them some junk food, with the promise they would have something healthy after. Well, one of his sons started chanting “cheez-its! cheez-its!” so the guy was like “you say cheez-its one more time, and I’m throwing them away”. The kid looked at him and said “CHEEZ-ITS!!!” and the dj threw them away.

OMG! The reactions he got!!! Parents were calling in and practically accusing him of child abuse! “You never carry through on a threat to a child!” one lady said. Most of the parents were like “good for you! You go, John!” but man…those parents calling in yelling at him and telling him he’s a bad parent…you would have sworn he beat the kid with a belt every day or something.
I blame this on pussification of parenthood (I would say fatherhood, but I have seen in some households that motherhood also swings a big stick, usually made of something hard). No one has any fuckin’ discipline with their children. That makes no sense, if you are going to tell a child that they’ll be punished if they do something, why in the hell would you not follow through when they do that something.

Oh snap! I can’t count the number of times I’ve had to throw away art, crayons, food, etc. Even had made bags of toys I was going to “throw away”. It sucks when you’re like “Ok, that’s it, I’m getting rid of all thse toys” and my daughter’s like “Ok, I’ll get the bag!”

Kids…
You do not have to throw it away, just say they do not get it until they behave. Kid without his shit for a week will be behaving pretty soon.

That is horrible PMPM. So sorry to hear about your friends’ homes.

No way dude, not with this one. You get the epic reaction when it hits the trashcan!

No, Betty…There are bad kids.

And BC…aren’t you like 20? you should get some miles on your odometer before you call out parents.

It’s the hardest job I’ve ever had. I wish you luck with yours, should you have some.

I wasn’t calling out parents, not anyone here I believe. Either way, keeping your word is keeping your word. Kids will run all over someone if they don’t. Either wish punishment or prizes.

Oh come on, I wasn’t that bad

LM- I think I would internally combust if I ate that. you know what I love? Papa Johns thin crust veggie pizza and wings…cheesecake for desert?

Bleh. I’m not a fan of delivery pizza so I stick with my red baron. You know what my cheat meal was the other week? 2 red baron classic crust 4 cheese pizzas. 3200 calories of awesomeness. Probably need to get calories in another way and not so much garbage but sometimes ya just gotta do it.

Splain Edgy…

We don’t get to choose our parents, our home life or home town. You think kids are wired to just be bad? And as we get older we are capable of making CHOICES…you can choose to be bad or good. you can choose right or wrong.

Your circumstances don’t define who you are or what you will become.

I believe there are bad kids out there, but not as many as people claim there are. Some kids can rise above the odds and others just don’t want to try or don’t believe in themselves enough. This is a sad subject for me cause I wanted to be a preschool teacher but I couldn’t stand the parents.

Inky was a good kid, but there was that one time in bandcamp…

Betty…no explanation, just an observation.

I have 3 brothers, and out of us 4 kids, 1 went to jail twice and another other did a stint in prison. (neither one was me, btw)
My older brother was always in trouble, drinking, breaking the neighbors windows, drugs, etc. And my younger brother is pratically a youth pastor in some church.

Go figure.

Same parents, same food, same tv shows. same town, same influences. different outcomes.

I can’t explain it.

must’ve been the Cheez-it’s…or lack thereof.

I guess I was a ‘bad’ kid, and I could have grown up to be even worse. I had a sucky upbringing, moved more times than I can count on my fingers and toes and my Mom was married/divorced 4 times by the time I was 15, with different boyfriends mixed in between marriages.

I think I’ve been married longer than all my moms marriages combined, lol…which is funny because of that reason I thought I’d never get married let alone have kids!

Cool! I never made it to jail…almost though.
Got picked up by a truancy officer who took me to a runaway shelter…where my mom could claim me if she wanted. She made me wait a day. A week later she sent me to live with my Dad who I barely knew. ooooh, buddy was I hating life…
which is why I joined the Navy. It was my do over at life

Pizza is not garbage. Not at least where I live, whole grain, non bleached dough, homegrown toppings, organic meats, artisan cheese.

Do overs Rock!

Funny…looking back, I’m sure you could have put us kids in the ‘at risk’ category.

some rise above, and some wallow in it.

Betty…damn…you bad girl.

Toots is a bad girl too…I think I may wanna give her a good spanking…
