apparently they took WAY too much social security out of me last year (about $750 too much, actually)
…or at least that’s what turbotax claims. I checked and rechecked my numbers and sure enough, i filled everything out correctly. I’m being told by my computer to talk to my employer about getting a corrected W-2, which would be a W-2c i guess.
I guess what i’m getting at here is: I’m completely stuck. If they send me a corrected W-2, will they cut me a check for the difference? Or was is more likely an error that someone made on my W-2 and it just needs to be corrected?
and what would happened if i said “buck it” and filed my tax return without the corrected from? a visit from the IRS?
I just can’t picture my company getting anything to me in a timely manner. i’d end up getting the corrected form in april on my 40th birthday.
