Ever Feel Like a Thread Killer? 52

6 hours of installing wood flooring at Dad’s house, couple hours of painting the gym at my house, and 6 hours at the zoo this weekend.

SOOOO TIRED TODAY!

Seamus - why is that? Knee problems? Leg Extensions aren’t exactly easy on your knees either (on top of the obvious statements about doing them instead of squatting).

dash - whoops.
Ya…5 knee surgeries and a couple of shoulders too. The first one back in 89, yep 89, they told me to never squat again and my rehab after the cast and braces got off was LEG EXTENSIONS! Hurt like a bastard besides the obvious pain from the rehab itself. Every surgery and doctor after the first one I heard the same thing and thats from Team doctors and ATCs. They just dont get it.
The HUMAN Body can handle a lot more than what you (they) think it can, and you dont know unless you but it to the test. I know there are things I cant do…jog for instance. First of jogging sucks and second it kills my knees and lower back for days, so DONT do it!

Are those knee sleeves, 460???

Only kind of running I’d like to do are sprints. ANd running from zombies of course, duh.

Don’t tell anyone but I run without a brace, wrap of anykind. I’m dumb that way. But squats or flexing my leg you can hear it click across the room. The TK bands are nothing more than neopryne sleeves. Just a name brand that a friend out in Hawaii used and I trust his advice and hell. When I did the AAU thing in Laughlin I didn’t even wrap I just slipped on my TK’s and squated.

Hi Guys!

Zombies, I love Zombies. Walking Dead is a great show, but the WALKERS as they call them are a lot faster on this show then I have seen in other zombie shows.

TK bands–duly noted.

Ever tried hill sprints? Less jarring on the knees since you aren’t really “falling” between steps.

Yes, but sad MD is low on good hills. My moring runs are more to get my body warm in the am than a real workout hahahaha. I’m one of those old guys you see doing the small step jogs for 2-3 miles.

There is one good hill that I used to sprint. It’s a quicky though and I can get up it in about 12s. I only did it 3-4x through. Will try again!!!

I think Peaches are out of season.

Hmm…I think a treadmill will be MORE painful than a regular hill.

MiMsy, have you tried doing that mock-prowler on the treadmill that I always used to do? That’s killer. You can run it tabata style.

One of the things that changed when I was having a lot of knee problems was my running stride.

Sports doctor reviewed it. I would land my foot with my knee locked and on the ball of my foot, inducing strain on the knee joint.

They changed my running stride to land with my knee bent and on the heel, rolling to the ball.

Idea was using the muscles in the leg to absorb the impact will work better then the knee joint.

My knee problems disappeared. I got to where I ran 25-30 miles a week.

Perhaps this can help you MiM.

Good people man, good people.

Hungry’s voice is deeper than I expected.
I kept wanting to call you ‘Beans’ the whole time.

Anyway, it was a good little meal with some good company. It was a good time.

If alcohol were involved… yeah, we’d still be there, eating and drinking some more.

It was GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRREAT!!!

Happy, Steely… :)
haha, yeah, it was a struggle not to refer to you as hungry.
I would so still call you guys beansie, tigerboy, and greenbeans. Awk!

I took a nap from 11 to 1:30, sorry I missed you guys!
Hey, naps are important!

And I would have prolly referred to you as Toots and Beans as Beans. Speaking of toots…there was a Toots Ice Cream place in the town we were in in Maine! They had their own cows and everything, made it fresh right there! We should have taken pictures!
