Spammer was all like, “I’m gonna randomly post links to my dating site on a bunch of threads around this mutha.” So I had to be all like, “No way, spammer. Not on my watch.”

Sorry for the confusion. Carry on.

Totally out of the blue, but how are you guys planning for retirement? I’m almost 30 and have nothing planned!
I’m not sure what it means, but i have a simple IRA. All I know is 5% of my paycheck goes somewhere that I dont have access to. The unversity matches me in deposit up to 5%
Peaches ask Beans about this straight up.

Put 10% in a 401K long term investments and forget you have it. If you have an employer that matches then that is great. Also you can up the % every other year with your annual raise and the annually as you approach the retirement age.

Medical people dont retire either, we normally actually are found dead on the job.

Have any of you ever tried hooking the battle rope on the Prowler…doing single arm BR wave, hand over hand row and then Prowler low handle sprint back? If not you should, it’s a special kind of pain! We usually do sets of 10 or higher on the wave each arm.
The Prowler is irreplaceable over 1001 uses. 2nd thing I bought for my athletes when i took this job.
Thats my condyioning 2x a week…that low hand is a BITCH
Low handle is the shit, Push and Pull on the Prowler is a killer too! Another good B.S.H. Work Out: Push ups x50-40-30-20 / Broad Jump Chest Pass x12-10-8-6 / Fat Bar Inverted Row x40-30-20-10 / DB Farmers Carry x60yds. Great Conditioning work in 15:00min, you’ll feel that for hours.

I was about to ask where Beans was on this topic.

I have other weird things that I do that I guess I cant explain. My accountant suggested that I pay 100 extra each month in a life insurance policy. Something about it going into a savings account that is not taxed or something. Now that Im talking out loud about how little I understand about what I do with money, Im mildly concerned. lol

Top of the mornin to ya!! How was the run?
Cold and wet, the best runs always happen in those conditions for me…no idea why.
I run better in those conditions, too. I feel “free-er” for whatever reason.
I run faster just because I want to get out of the rain!

After the first couple of blocks, once your feet get soaked, it doesn’t matter…

I’ve done 13 miles runs in downpours, I speak from experience, lol.

Life insurance is “almost” always a terrible investment.

If you expect to be in a highish tax bracket in retirement a Roth Ira could be helpful.

To piggy back on that, I’d also suggest putting your max contribution into a Roth IRA every year. Max contr. is 6000 for income up to 105,000

Once you do that if you still have money to invest I’d suggest bonds market at the moment

You might be right. I am looking into the situation as we speak. I know I use life insurance as a savings account somehow. BUT, I just did a little google research and it appears that its a bad idea. So…now I’m wondering what to do.
