Just workin’ to pay the mortgage 2B, just payin the mortgage.
I just got kind of reamed for being ‘over budget’ on a project that I’m involved with but not managing. Not quite sure what the Proj Mgr actually does all day, but apparently what he doesn’t do is my problem.

I just printed out my first PL competition entry form! USAPL Maryland State Dec 10th. Just enough time to run 2 cycles of 5/3/1 and pick some friends’ brains about what these things are like.
I was shooting for a comp in the spring but there is zilcho around here for full PL comps until late summer, so I figured what the hell. Currently deciding whether to shed a few pounds and hit the 220 division or just keep doin what I’m doin and place a little worse in the 242s.
Congrats man, you’ll love it. I’ve done 2 so far, was planning on a third this month until it got canceled, so I’ll do another next March probably. Any ?s, ask away and I’ll do what I can to halp out.
As for cutting weight, for my first meet I dropped 6 lbs in water without any performance degradation (I think at least), second meet I dropped 16 pounds (10 in 1 day) and most definitely suffered and will never drop more than 5 to make weight again. I’ll also never try to get to the 198’s again. Fuck that, fatty PL for life! Anyway, if it’s a few pounds, go for it. you’re far enough out to be able to drop some without much effort. Don’t sweat it though, it’s your first and you’ve got more important things to worry about than what weight class you’re in.

I have kidney stones, I would never cut water. Guess my fat ass is going to have to finish at the bottom of his class.

At least your proud to admit that they hang on someone else. Of course I am assuming that you don’t get paid to grab your own balls. If that were the case you’d give B. Gates a run for his money I’m sure.

Yeah, I’m a CPA. In private industry you are beyond 100% correct. I have spent countless hours trying to explain to the kids taking over for the parents how important a good controller can be, and how valuable even a good AP clerk can be.
It is like talking to brick walls. They don’t see the value, and take a “it is good enough” approach. I can only do so much, they don’t want to listen? It will be more fees for me to clean up their mess, fuck em.
As a CPA, people with real money typically value my services, but sometimes scoff at the costs. Whatever. You can find some shlub to do it for 7k less? Enjoy… I provide a service that he won’t. Trust me, no one is bending over backwards for “you” @ 38k when I struggle to make rates at 45k.
My favorite is showing someone a huge loss on a FS, and as the tears start welling up in their eyes, “oh yeah, here is my final progress bill for 15k, BAM”
(No I don’t actually like that, lol, I’m playin around.)
I have people approach me all the time (I do some consulting on the side for insurance/risk analysis and as I used to be a corporate international oil & gas accountant) asking about where they should get their taxes and/or company bookwork done as their business is growing. I always suggest either a few CPA’s that I work with or tell them if they don’t like that, interview a few CPA’s and pick the one they like the most. The next statement is always, " I don’t want to pay that much" or “CPA, what about these firms like LIberty or this guy I know that does taxes”. I try to explain that sure you can some guy off Craigslist, or your cousin or go to that booth at wal-mart, but why are you skimping on one of the most important things to you and/or your business, they never understand and they worry more about their cell phone service/costs.

ink - thanks man, I’ll be asking around a bit on the site (especially for form advice) and updating my log. Deloading the rest of this week and starting 5/3/1 for powerlifting next Mon.
mim - Comp is in Laurel, MD. Being a DC resident allows me to qualify for MD state.
edit - I’m weighing 227ish right now so hitting 220 is definitely possible. It’s a question of exchanging long term goals (wanted to gain about 10 more lbs before getting lean) for short term ones, i.e. meet performance.
If I really kick ass in training I can probably total in the 1150-1200 range.

But wouldn’t positive news be an attention whoring lie? Ummm… Recently it rained really hard across huge swathes of Texas, breaking a drought. Ranchers every where rejoiced.
