Oh, Christine.

And I was even bringing some chocolate chips.

Good morning.

2busy—you sniffed me out! Upon landing in America, my parents and my siblings spent the better part of 15 years on a goat farm in southeast missouri/norteast Arkansas. It was charming.

I’m half midget and couldn’t see my mountains. And it was hot and I was bored. We weren’t lost, it was just faster to map our way out of it.[/quote]

I didn’t mean you. You were resourceful and overcome.

That cornfield had a maze cut out in rows of corn…

You walk either with a row or across rows until you hit the edge.

Then you head in one direction along the edge until you hit something else.

As a related note: Jules Verne’s Mysterious Island was one of my favorite reads as a child.

A small band of men try to escape the siege of Atlanta by balloon and end up on an island in the Pacific. From what they have on them, they figured out where they were (longitude and latitude), and in an interactive manner, fabricated more and more sophisticated tools until they build a small sailing ship, firearms, etc.

That book opened my eyes to how you can creatively solve real world problems you face.

It has been quiet here.

Just workin’ to pay the mortgage 2B, just payin the mortgage.

I just got kind of reamed for being ‘over budget’ on a project that I’m involved with but not managing. Not quite sure what the Proj Mgr actually does all day, but apparently what he doesn’t do is my problem.

PMP? Ba.HA!

You know, I will go out of my way, at times, to take the heat for my staff, over and over again. This accomplishes 2 things:

  1. My staff trust me, and respect me
  2. It makes the other people in a similar position as me look like the assfaces they are when they blame the staff for everything.

This sucks, because I get the shit kicked out of me in reviews, but they know what I’m doing. I don’t vocalize it, so they have to beat up someone…

Now if one of my staff is flat retarded, unmotivated, or a cocky fuck, I will toss them under the boss, and publicly bust their nuts when they ask a question/fuck something up.

Now upwards, I’m critical. Professional and civil, but I bust nuts upward constantly, lol.

I have a similar philosphy with my staff…I’m ultimately responsible for them so I take the heat when needed, the higher ups know what I’m about. I’ve found if your staff doesn’t trust you, it only takes one weasel to ruin you as a VP/Manager if you don’t have a track record and support of the other staff. We may go hammer and tongs behind closed doors, but outside we are united front…and they know I will not leave them hanging in the breeze, in regards to my higher ups, I never criticize or correctly publically. They know when behind closed doors we have an open and honest dialog and they Know I’m loyal. I won’t take un-necessary blame and I always share the credit…they know who is responsible for what, regardless of who screams “look at me, i did it”…so far it’s been a good recipe…

Sorry to hear that…any chance you can use them in your new house and “pretend” they are from someone you actually like? Does this guy know that you are proficient with fire arms
(in addition to being as fit as humanly possible)?

Yup, pretty much.

Except, while I am certainly loyal, I am currently underpaid.

That will wear on a man’s loyalty.
