Max, that scar is wicked!
It’s hardly puke-worthy, my friend.
How has it changed the way you eat and train?
The surgeon had to cut through all the rectus abdominis to get to where the problem was. Then my kidneys, pancreas, and liver had to be removed and cleaned from the waste that leaked into my viscera (the virtual “bag” which holds your organs in place), and then reattached back inside me. The best part was the collapsed lung, nothing like being on a breathing machine and panting while doing nothing.
Training wise, it took me about 18 months to do be able to stand up straight. Scar tissue is very stiff at fist, and loosens over time. So I walked hunched over for a long time, which gave me back problems. My major lifts took a huge hit. Pull-ups are tough, the abdominal pressure is so much that I cannot handle it. It feels like my intestine will burst through, so I am held back by that. Squats haven’t been as bad, except front squatting, and deadlifting is brutal. I am limited from the pressure that builds in the abs. Anyone who has had surgery knows, the shit just aint as strong as it was before.
Food wise, I eat pretty well, I stay away from crap food. Lots of veggies and protein.
Overall, I am not as strong by any means. But I can toss up 275 on bench without too much trouble, and can stride out on a treadmill at 12mph. In my last pic, I am 225, now working on better body-comp.

How much did they take out? Other than the BP thing any other issues?
The whole thing (the whole large intestine), I have no colon at all. Just a J-pouch. From what my doc told me, around 6-7 feet was removed. So what you said earlier makes sense about the dehydration, I also sweat like a beast when I workout. I almost never pee, probably my kidneys compensating for lack of water being reabsorbed in the colon I no longer have.

Yea man you have to carry high quality H20 where ever you go. Its better than being dead and good thing you dont have a colostomy bag.

Morning. I need more coffee.
Every time I try to use caffeine to keep me awake or wake me up in the first place… I start feeling drowsy as hell for some reason…
Be grateful. I have a neice that when we give her benadryl it like giving normal people Meth. She is up for like 3 days. The human body is an amazing thing.
I like coffee for more than just the caffeine. Been in the medical field for 19 years and you get the addiction early on in your career.
So she’s the exact opposite of me… For some reason, stimulants just make me tired or have no effect… Same for powerdrive and the like.
Weird.
Shit. I should totally overdose on caffeine the next time I get my stupid insomnia… AHA!
Hold the phone batman.
Now what may also be happening is the stimulant may be causing you to have arythmias (irregular heart beat) thus you have a decrease in cardiac output which causes a decrease in oxygen to your brain thus you get groggy. So I would not advise you ODing on caffiene to sleep.
I wasn’t serious about taking caffeine before going to bed (I actually avoid it nowadays).
But you bring up something interesting that I was not previously aware of… It did also kind of feel a little like I was having low blood pressure or something whenever I did use a lot of caffeine or such. Uh-oh.
What causes this (if you don’t mind explaining a little) ?
Stimulants cause the electrolyte embalance of the muscle cells, so the pathway of impulses in the cardiac muscle is disrupted. You probably were going into bigeminy which means you do not have the normal atrium contraction followed by the ventrical contraction. It gets off so you will have just a ventrical contraction thus lowering cardiac output.
If you are over 30 then I would maybe get a cardiac evaluation, if you are still in your 20’s just avoid caffeine for like the rest of your life.
Great…and I have heart murmur things (feels like my heart actually stops and the pressure in my chest builds up…basically I don’t know).
Yep probably having PVC’s the feeling you are describing I have heard before from patients.
Lord have mercy, I better get my Last Rite.
Hahahahahaha some how with your avi that just struck me as funny. You will live BC, just keep the caffiene to a minimum.
Well as long as I can have my sweet tea, I’ll stay a good ol’ boy for awhile.

she see’s me, man…she fucking see’s me…I’m freaking out man…
what was in that brownie forchristsake?
Hallowed, my trip to the gym was great! The first day was Leg Day and I got major DOMS in my left calf two days later. I can just NOW walk on it fully. The second day was Bench Day, so that was good. I’m supposed to do 2 days on, 1 day off, but because of the severe DOMS, I couldn’t go on Sunday.
Can I just say that squatting 10 x Bar is a lot harder than it used to be? I could barely do 3 sets!!! And benching just the bar? OMG…I feel like I’m starting all over again.
Don’t worry Grns, it’s only temporary
You’ll get back up to speed a lot quicker than before.

I haven’t got a dick pic since people knew IH and I were together. It’s like they’re skeered of him or something (all except Edgy…lol).
Edgy…not sure what to say about that lol
Wow, I had to go back and read four pages to get the whole Max story. Tough ordeal. Glad you are doing better. Learned some medical stuff too…did not know the colon maintains hydration. DJHT – the guy with the weird dog face, great arms and an awesome wife…interesting info you put out there…Max, take another drink of water!
