This one is going to my daughter. She loves pugs and she is getting that pre-teen attitude that this pic is perfect for.
Props on the recent switch to dogs. IMO, Dogs > Cats.
Oh and CBear, very nice avatar. It made me do a double-take.
Also, next superhero question: The Tick vs Blue Beetle? Who ya got?
No idea. One is comic relief, but tough and strong. The other is unintentional comic relief…and dead.
C’mon, when has being dead stopped anything in comics. I assume you mean Ted Kord. That is the one I was referring to…mainly for the comix relief aspect, but there is another new blue beetle running around now with armor.
I have no clue who the new one. Out of ignorance, I choose tick.
Punisher vs Green Arrow
Well since Frank Castle is now dead, I think I pick Green Arrow. However if I follow my own no-death default win clause, then I choose Punisher.
He’s dead? BULLSHIT. I don’t even like the guy, but I don’t see being dead for long.
Captain America vs Captain Britain. Location: Japan
From Wikipedia (what its worth): Punisher by Rick Remender and John Romita Jr.: Following repeated failed attempts to kill Frank Castle, Norman Osborn sends Daken and a platoon of H.A.M.M.E.R troops to complete this mission. After a bloody round of hand-to-hand combat, Daken dismembers and decapitates Castle, before kicking his remains from a rooftop. Castle’s body parts are collected and spirited away by Moloids, seemingly operating under the protection of Man-Thing.
This is from the Dark Reign section called The List (Osborn’s list)
I like the neutral location idea for the Caps fight. Britain is now powered by confidence similar to the Shi’ar superman-like clone gladiator. He is extremely powerful but shake his confidence and he is toast. So I think America will exploit that flaw and will eventually winout even against the more powerful opponent.
New Cap against Old Cap?
I get so sick and tired of Wolverine and his faggy children. Its as if every team in Marvel needs a guy with bad attitude and butter knives coming out of his hands. To be killed by Wolverine or Wolvie’s progeny is disgraceful. Fuck you Marvel. Kill off Wolverine’s children.
Who’s the new Cap? Bucky with a gun and a bionic arm right? I give it to old Cap out of favoritism. Hell, I believe US Agent would beat New Cap’s ass. But again, this is favoritism. If you can convince me other wise, I’ll listen.
Martian Manhunter vs Human Torch
On the face of it I would say Human Torch since fire is MM’s weakness. But MM is a toplevel psi so I as the writer of this story would have MM take over the HT’s mind from a distance, shutdown his flame, and then physically go in and clean up. Anybody with psi powers against non-psi-resistant opponents pretty much get owned. It is a lot like magic users, to me.
Rogue vs Absorbing Man?
Apparently, MM isn’t actually weak against fire. He’s been programmed to fear fire because his race was so destructive and powerful. I think he kicked all of the JLA’s ass and had to stop himself from destroying the world.
Hmmm…
One on one Battle with gloves on: Absorbing Man(has to touch steel or adamantium)
No gloves: Rogue knocks him out with a touch, but I’m not sure how his absorbing powers would work against her.
Wendigo vs Colossus
hmmm, I think marvel would have Colossus win but I think Wendigo would win.
Agreed, Wendigo wins in my book.
I posted this under the main GAL page, but thought I would post here since this thread never dies. Any opinions are appreciated.
Okay… here is the story. A long-time friend who now lives a 1,000 miles away made an invitation for me and my wife to come see him and his wife over the new year’s for a party they are hosting. They are going to be in town over the xmas holiday but back to their home on NY’s.
We have a tradition of spending new year’s together and in fact spent the last 9 out of 10 together. Here is the wording… “This year XXXX and I are not going to be in XXXX for NY’s. I know this is kind of short notice but we would love for you guys to come down to us.”
Now here is the interesting part…they are extremely wealthy (millions) and we are middle-class and we have been hurting a lot this year and they know this. They have in the past flown us down, treated hotel rooms on common vacations, etc… But it was always a direct mention, not implied. This message does not specifically mention airfare.
I emailed back and said we couldn’t afford it. We have not heard back. My question is are they kicking us to the curb or were they not expecting us to ask for help?
D

How long has it been with no response?
Depending on where they had their money, they may not be a well off as they were 24 months ago, and are ashamed to let it be known they are broke

I was thinking this too. Everyone is taking a hit, even if they are not broke yet. And it could be that one of them is getting chinsy and they can’t agree on what to do.
