I vaguely recall case law addressing whether officers have probable cause to pull you over just because they see you pull out of a bar. I suspect they had already formed opinions about whether you were capable to drive but why not let you hang yourself. Walking distance from a bar rocks, yeah?

Right… I’m not about to put that to the test. We drove there since it was pretty warm and humid, and we just figured it was a short drive.

Yeah, i’m glad it’s within walking distance, especially since I had every intention of drinking a little too much. I was a little disappointed that they allowed smoking in there, though.

It was a good time.

How was your weekend, Deb?

EDIT: This is Grneyes. When I lived in Rockford, IL, bar time was 2am. THe bars had to be empty and locked by 2am. So at about 1:45 massive amounts of people would be shooed out of the bars and to their cars. The cops would sit in the parking lots across from the bars and wait for everyone to leave and then get people as they were pulling out of the parking lot.

I’ve been lucky in that VA and WA have no smoking in bars and restaurants. It’s awesome. Michigan just passed that law (about damn time) and they are moaning and groaning about it. Weekend was good. Sat in the sun for 2 hours yesterday and now I’m burnt but not badly. Went to karaoke at a place called, Royal Unicorn, uh huh. Small dive bar/restaurant where no one sang a song written after 1970, I KID YOU NOT. haha I can always entertain myself in any situation so it was fun. Today was gym time and now studying.

Yeah, IL did that in 2008? 2009? I miss it. At the hotel we still had foreigners who would smoke in their rooms though. A couple of weeks ago we had this small Korean group in and one of them smoked in his bathroom because it has a vent. When we locked him out so he could pay the $250 smoke fee he didn’t get it. He said that his bathroom was private so it was okay and my manager was like “but the bathroom is still IN the building. Therefore, the law still applies.” The guy never did understand that his bathroom, while IN his room, was still part of a PUBLIC building. shrug

PA’s not a tobacco growing state is it? KY is and we figured they’d never pass that law unless it becomes a federal law. Thanks for the comments on my log, Greenie!

I don’t know if it is or not. IL’s law is no smoking in ANY public building. Personally, I think they should treat it like drinking, have licenses and stuff so that a place can decide if they want to be smoking or not. Lots of people pair drinking with smoking and playing bar games (pool, darts, etc), it seems logical to me to have the individual bar/restaurant decide. If you ask the bars/restaurants though, they did see some drop off, esp in winter in Chicago, but the business came back. Rooftop bars are extremely popular in the summer b/c people can still drink and smoke.

Anytime! I like reading your log!

I am now hours away from 21.

you gonna bang some vanillas to celebrate?

When I turned 21, the hubby and I had been married a year and he had left for his first deployment…wow. (about 11 years ago!)

Seeing him off this morning was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. And getting through this shit will be the hardest job I’ve ever had.

All of a sudden I feel like dying my hair darker. Maybe I’ll do that.

Hopefully your kids and your training will keep you so busy that the time flies by. (:

Nah, I’ve been banging vanillas and celebrating since Thursday. My birthday is on a Monday so it made sense to do it the weekend before.

I’m just hangin’ out with your sister now…pampering her all night.

??? I live under a rock, but I’m pretty sure that’s on HBO? I don’t have any of the pay movie channels. Heck, I blocked MTV for years but I got a new box (LOL) and didn’t reprogram it.
