I do rows on my deadlift day and I do one arm DB presses on my squat days. I have not worked up to benches yet. I’m only at 27.5 on the DBs so far. Not sure when it’s appropriate to switch to benches. Thanks Ducky!

I spent one afternoon with my mother and 2 aunts. I can now sent them links from exrx and set them up from 150 miles away. One afternoon going over basic do’s and don’ts.

Atty, you can bench now. the bar is 45, and it’s easier to press a single bar than two dumbbells (in my experience, anyway). I generally figure whatever I can put on a side, I can dumbbell press - so if my dumbbell press is 45, I can bench at least 135.

I bench a fixed 20 lb BB. Sometimes a 30 lb fixed BB. I do know that when I use DBs I feel like a wimp. I can’t even curl the 15 lb DBs. ![]()
EDIT: I should say I feel like an even bigger wimp when using the DBs.

I guess I meant more of a making sure to include upper body work (horizontal and/or vertical pushes, to give your legs and butt a rest if needed. DB presses are totally legit though. (If you’re interested in, and able to do 27.5x2’s that equals 55lbs for both arms, so even if you just did bar weight (45lbs) for reps, because you can co-ordinate with both hands, it should be a fair bit easier for you. Without a spotter you trust, you can even do them in the power rack with the pins set so the bar doesn’t crush into you(I’m thinking down the road here)

I uh…well I do heavy DL’s remember? lol Let’s see, I’ve never done a jump squat, have never used a bosu ball, and I have no idea what the other one means lol I would PAY you to bitch slap this guy (but only cuz he got abusive with me). Know what I figured out this week? I only did deads once every 2 or 3 programs (programs were 5 weeks long). Same with squats. Almost like he was dragging out my progress since I had a one year contract? I don’t know. Well contract has been cancelled 4 months prior to end so he can blow me. Or you. I assume you think it’s past time for me to start benching? (Sorry you got your blood pressure up so late in the evening!)
