So, yesterday was deadlift day for me. There’s only one real place in my gym for deads and that’s right outside of the power rack … everywhere else is populated with equipment of morons standing around with pink dumbbells (i kid, my gym isn’t that bad but anyways). So, I finished my last set and I’m going to set up for some higher rep RDL’s supersetted with some step ups. There I am stripping the bar on the floor down to 225 for my RDL’s and this guy and his buddy come up.
Now they’re pretty strong guys, they work hard, I like em. So the leader asks me if I’m done using the cage. I immediately ask whoever is asking that question to me “What do you need it for.” It’s almost complusive now: them: “you almost done with the rack?” Me: “What do you need if for?” And if they say some stupid bullshit I tell them where they can also do that stupid bullshit and I hog the rack somemore :). But that wasn’t the case here. However, what he did say gave me a chuckle. He says, “We need it for those half deadlift things. You know that use more of your lower back than hamstrings?” I laugh and say, “Rack pulls.” He says, “I guess if that’s what they’re called.” I say, “Yes, you’re telling me you’re going to do rackpulls. That’s what they’re called.” It was just really funny to me because I’ve watched them build up to about 425 on rack pulls, maybe more, while I"m waiting in the wings for like squats or good mornings or something like that. Never knew what they were called. Gave me a chuckle.
Good one. Hell I was doing Good Morning before I knew they were Good Mornings for years. Training alone with no internet 20yrs ago. “Mongo Like back raises with bar on back”

I thought Kroc rows and db rows were the same thing. English?

AHHHHH well see the scientific explanation will take us into…Naaa. It is the same thing. Just with Kroc’s you take a Heavy weight (whatever you consider heavy) and try to blast out 20 or more reps. And if it was easy the weight was not heavy enough.

Play with it. Loads of fun
I thought the difference was the amount of momentum and body English used…

Strict form (which I lovingly refer to as “little guy form”) v. throwing some leg drive and (if you’re not a dolt and know your body) a little back swing to move more weight than if your legs and back stayed still.
Using body English is using “looser” form in order to move more weight, so you make bigger muskles.

So what you’re saying is that the English are looser? I’ve got to move!
Seriously though, interesting. So it’s like a dumbell row with cheating?
Too much beer at karaoke last night means I have a monster headache this morning. And 6 hours of class to go to. And a boy to flirt with while watching the Habs lose after my classes.
