Yea I am pretty sure it was written by an autistic 12 year old
Django Unchained was super badass. Tarantino delivers like always. I really enjoyed the macabre humor throughout the movie.
Also, Ted was a pretty funny movie. Not as funny as I was expecting, but still a good one.
I just watched “Graphic Sexual Horror,” a documentary about the Insex website.
The movie was hilarious, and definitely a step above most of the HBO/Showtime type documentaries on porn. It is really hard to pull off this sort of documentary without seeming either apologetic or judgmental. If the topic interests you, pick it up some time.

- Not bad, giving it a B
- For a boozin’ mover and shaker that sleeps little, his Magic Mike body didn’t really fit.
- Ryan Phillippe is just not very good in this. I think he was poorly directed.
- I would have rather seen Oliver Platt in this role. If you get the reference I’ll give you two internets
Deej,

I know I just had to post that cause I forgot that he was in that movie.

Man in the Iron Mask wasn’t too bad, though it dealt with the aged and “out of retirement” Muskateers. I especially like Jeremy Irons and Malkovitchs’ scenes. That’s good (albeit over the top) acting.
Perhaps the Muskateers are shelved because the French aren’t really looked upon as tough dudes anymore?
Did you see that last one? I was in a hotel room and bored so watched it. Man that was bad.
I just watched that a few days ago on cable tv (it’s playing constantly I think on Showtime)…holy crap that was boring.
In fact, it was so boring that I even sat down and contemplated WHY it was boring, because it frankly had no excuse. The film was high-budget and high-production value, with actors that are proven in action-comedy and historical-action.
The director was Paul W.S. Anderson, who has had some success in the past with high-concept action…and even his failures were more entertaining than The Three Musketeers.
I just don’t get why that particular film ended up sucking so badly.
Well, anyhow, on the subject of The Three Musketeers – I would suggest that the filmic adaptation against which all others should be compared would be the 1973 version, and its 1974 sequel, with Michael York, Oliver Reed, Christopher Lee, Charlton Heston, and Richard Chamberlain.
To this day, if I see that it’s on TV, I make time to watch it again. To date, in my mind, no swashbuckler-type film has ever matched its quality and entertainment value.

I know how you feel, I always want to see that type of thing for myself, too.
Be sure to follow up with your opinions – if you also think that it was bad, I want know if you have any thoughts as to why it bombed. I’m genuinely curious as to why it wasn’t better.
(I’m also curious if maybe I was just in a really bad mood when I saw it, and that’s influencing my perceptions).

Incidentally, here’s the cast of the 2011 Three Musketeers…even if you don’t know every name by heart, the faces are pretty much all familiar, and all associated with at least something you’ve seen that was pretty entertaining (at least going by most of the other film reviews here).
Everything about the cast says, “This should be a good film.” In fact, it’s hard to even say that it was ‘bad,’ per se (I’ve seen a lot worse)…but it’s just that considering the cast, the director, the set design, & so on, it should have been a lot more fun & exciting.
If it didn’t have as much potential, I probably would have changed the channel, but I kept watching, all to little if any benefit.
Then again, if it didn’t have so much potential, I might have been more forgiving and at least given the film a ‘good enough for tonight’ grade. A film cast & crew with this much ability shouldn’t have been in something so Novocainish.
The Cast –
Logan Lerman as D’Artagnan
Matthew Macfadyen as Athos
Ray Stevenson as Porthos
Luke Evans as Aramis
Milla Jovovich as Milady de Winter
Christoph Waltz as Cardinal Richelieu
Mads Mikkelsen as Captain Rochefort
Orlando Bloom as Duke of Buckingham
Gabriella Wilde as Constance Bonacieux, D’Artagnan’s love interest
James Corden as Planchet
Freddie Fox as King Louis XIII
Juno Temple as Queen Anne
Til Schweiger as Cagliostro

The only movie that has five stars is no country for old men. If I gave another movie 5 stars I’d have to change my favorite movie and I am not emotionally prepared to do that at this point.

Where do I begin?!
WELL firstly, Anton Chigurh=SUPA AWESOME!!!
I have liked many a badguy in my day, but no one even comes close to Anton!
I was also able to watch this movie like once a week for months without getting bored, and that’s a big deal to me. REwatch ability is signs of a classic forsure.
For a while it felt like Tommy Lee Jones was living inside my head narrating the story of my life ![]()
Everything is also so damn quoteable.
Let me ask you something. If the rule you followed brought you to this, of what use was the rule?
If there’s a dull moment during a conversation you can just say this.
Do you have any idea how crazy you are?
You mean the nature of this conversation?
I mean the nature of you…
UM oH and that big cow killing murder weapon machine that he carried everywhere, fucking so cool.
And I was able to read the book. My brain rarely shuts up enough to let me finish an ENTIRE BOOK, but I couldn’t put this one down.
Magic, pure magic it was.
This post is too long.
BYE
Spock, you remind me of a buddy I haven’t seen in a while. Back in the day, if I mentioned I’d seen a new movie, he’d ask: “how’d that movie rank on a scale from 1 to Total Recall.”
I just saw the remake, by the way, and really enjoyed it.
