One thing that is amazing is bananas…mixing them with anything, especially oatmeal or in my pancake batter gives it amazing flavor and doesn’t add a ton of carbs.

Well I love bananas… AND we have them in the UK… I’ll give it a shot man. (you using organic bananas? iirc meadows said thick-skinned fruit/veg didn’t have to be organic?)

Nope, just normal good ole’ bananas. I’ve been peeling em’, cutting them up, and throwing them in the freezer until ready.
I’m gonna experiment with a power butter/Ezekiel bread/banana sandwich soon…should be amazin.

Haha, it just takes a little extra work, but you can spice up a diet easily without making a dent in your wallet.
Evan, your log is so full of sex. Overall amazing. What classes are you taking this semester?

Haha, glad you think so.
I’m taking Ethics, Logic and Language, a Tolstoy Seminar, and Ghost Stories for my lit requirement…should be a fun semester.
Fastest response ever!
Who are you reading in ethics?
For logic, is it just basic ‘sentential’ stuff or more advanced.
Please tell me you don’t have to read War and Peace.
If you get scared reading Ghost Stories, I’m sure Bug will come out to NY and tuck you in.
Great, amazing work as always. Do you feel like your joints are more ‘exposed’ being this lean? When I was pretty lean I felt like going super heavy could be bad b/c I always felt like my bones ached. Maybe I’m just a puss.

Haha, for ethics, we’re reading primarily Mill, Kant, Aquinas, Aristotle, and Sarte, analyzing the theories respective to each…
We aren’t reading War and Peace, luckily.
Ghost stories will be great, should be a fun class.
I have yet to feel the aches that I actually thought I would at this point. I’m gonna keep going heavy until I do I guess lol.
9.3.11
Delts/HIIT
Seated Barbell Military Press
180 x 666 technique
This felt awesome. On sets 1 and 2, I felt that I could have crushed 15-20 reps…set 5 was tough, maybe 3-4 in the tank, and set 6 was very challenging. The fact that I can hit 15 + on the first set and am just making it to 6 on the final set really highlights how tough this technique is.
Bradford Press/Dumbbell Front Raise/Machine Lateral Raise (Full ROM as high as I can raise arms)
85 x 6 (reps are counted as front/back as one, so 12 total)/32.5 x 8 LR/70 x 10
95 x 6/32.5 x 8/70 x 10
105 x 6/32.5 x 8/70 x 10
115 x 6/32.5 x 8/70 x 10
125 x 6/32.5 x 8/70 x 10
Bentover Dumbbell Laterals (squeeze hard at back)/Rope Pulls to Face
25 x 15
25 x 15/20
25 x 15/20
Barbell Dead-Stop Shrugs w/3 seconds hold at top (take all momentum taken out of “shrug” motion by starting movement higher than usual)
135 x 8
225 x 8
315 x 8
4 seconds hold: 315 x 8, 8
(30 seconds rest between shrug sets)
Damn, those 4 seconds holds are tough.
Bike Interval Sprints
5 minutes warmup
5 intervals: 30 seconds all out/3 minutes 30 seconds medium
15 minutes fast-paced walking on the track
Very strong overall delt/HIIT day. The 180 on seated barbell press was cake. I think next week I am going to shoot for a new 6 rep max and see where I’m at because this technique is doing wonders for my strength on this lift. Just 4 weeks ago, I was struggling with finishing this 666 with 175 and now I’m finishing it with 30 + seconds with 180.
The giant set was tough, 45-60 seconds rest in-between each set.
Shrugs are very tough with the 3 and 4 second holds…I really buy into the idea that traps, like calves, require more focus on TUT since the ROM is so short…holding up there for 4 seconds over 8 reps gives me roughly 35-40 seconds of total TUT for the set, which is great.
Bike sprints for 30 seconds are very, very tough.
LISS tomorrow, might actually train legs if I feel like it. So much for dieting hindering my recovery. I actually feel that I am recovering faster now than I was 2 months ago, despite doing the same things in my workouts.
You’re a bit of a mutant, Ev.
Goddamn at the weights used for the 666… guess my 2-3 minute rest periods wouldn’t adapt well to this at all! Sounds very challenging for those who have the strength to still be using good weights though
9.4.11
Legs + LISS
Back Squats
135 x 8
225 x 8
315 x 5
405 x 13 (nice!)
Lying Hamstring Curls/Barbell RDL using 25s
Set 1: 100 x 8 (5 second negative, 2 second stretch)/145 x 20 bottom half partials
Set 2: 112.5 x 8 (same technique as above)/145 x 8 1 1/2 reps (hold for 2 count in stretch)
Set 3: Stack x 8 normal reps to 87.5 x 8 (technique above) to 50 x failure to 100 x 40 partials/145 x 10 full reps (2 seconds stretch at bottom, squeeze as hard as possible at top)
Leg Press
1 pps x 20
3 pps x 20/Dumbbell Walking Lunges: 45 lb x 15 LR
5 pps x 85, 15 (yes, not a typo)/45 x 15 LR
Leg Extensions
1 set, holds at top, to failure
Walking Lunge Death Set: 100s x 14 LR
Abductor Machine
2 x 15
LISS Elliptical
20 minutes
What a leg day. Intensity was at an all time high and weights were not bad for being close to dipping below that coveted 200 mark.
405 felt heavy as hell, but I cranked it out for 13 and looking at the video, I may have been good for 1-2 more, but I was MORE than happy with 13 and wasn’t pushing it there.
Hamstring set was brutallllll…I used a different technique on each set, with the final one being very intense and they were burning.
Leg press = insanity.
I didn’t want to go really heavy on it, so when I got to 5 pps, I decided why not try and get as close to 100 reps in 1 set as I could…got to 85, and almost died, so I racked it, rested a little, and cranked out the 15 necessary to hit 100. Insanely brutal set, especially when paired with lunges.
I haven’t done a lunge “death set” in months, but figured why the hell not since I had already done so much other crazy stuff, and the 100s actually felt good. I think my best is with the 105s for 20 total steps, so I’m close!
I’ll throw up the squat video in a bit.
Evan, it is categorically imperative that you stop being so awesome.
EDIT: It’s also hypothetically imperative that you check out my “late night BS” video in my log a page or so back.

Haha, like the Kant reference.
Seriously amazing squatting. What do you think your 1RM would be? Also, what do you think the main difference is b/w front and back squats. I’ve never been a big back squatter, so I honestly don’t know lol.
I love the intensity, especially at such a low BW. Very impressive. You probably have a 2.5-3x BW squat!
And BTW, I’m full of Kant references. If I could just understand Hume’s "Treatise on Human Nature, then I’d be in heaven, ya dig?

Thanks bro…my max is prob a lot lower than you think tho since I really haven’t been training with weights above 90 percent often.
If I trained for singles/doubles, my guess is I could hit near 545-550 for 1-2 solid reps, but idk. At my best, 505 x 5, I probably was good for 550-575, but now idk.
Well, front squats target the quads a bit more directly whereas backs target the entire thigh as a whole…that’s the main difference I think.
