Entourage Series Finale

Agreed.

As I mentioned, the later seasons are more satirical, especially with celebs playing exaggerated versions of themselves.

But, yea, the last 3 seasons…meh. I think they realized with season 6 (mediocre at best) that the “Vince can’t do the movie…insert obstacle…insert shenanigans…insert solutions…Vince does movie!” storyline wouldn’t work again.

They went the other way in 7, overreached and realized the fans didn’t want dark and depressing.

In this season, they were just trying wrap it up, pay some homage to the characters, which unfortunately meant creating something unsatisfying for the fans.

I think people liked Entourage because, as bad as things would get, everything was still okay. Worst case scenario, the boys went back to Queens and were still best friends. Like every other TV show, they just took it too far lately…

I agree with you guys. I always saw even the first couple of seasons as a mixture of both satire and creating an allure to Hollywood. Ultimately, what I think drew people to watch was the multitude of characters and personalities that were flawed in some way against this seemingly “perfect” backdrop. Entourage wouldn’t have been as great if it didn’t focus on the characterisation of the main players, especially Ari and Drama. I actually think Grenier sometimes dragged the show down but hey, that’s just a minor personal opinion. There’s no denying the show was entertaining and I guess that’s all that matters.

Regarding the ending, I haven’t been paying attention to the last couple of seasons so if you guys say it was unsatisfactory I believe you. I hope the producers of Californication can end that show properly.

The show was originally conceived as a documentary featuring Mark Wahlberg and his friends as they made their way in LA. Early on they realized that a lot of his friends had shady pasts and the overall tone would be too dark, so they fictionalized Wahlberg and his friends and turned it into a series…Chase is Wahlberg, Ari Gold is Wahlberg’s agent Ari Emanuel and ‘E’ is based on Wahlberg’s manager Eric Weinstein.

This season was pretty weak, but the show jumped after season 2.

This last episode really should have been an hour, instead of a 1/2 movie trailer…

and good god mrs ari…

I like the show because most of the time I come away from it feeling good. The finale was no different, so it worked for me. I don’t expect it to be anything other than what it is: a feel-good show about friends living an awesome life together.

I caught up with it while I was traveling, all the way up to Vince using a rubber dick to pass a piss test.

I remember thinking that they’re tying it up in a nice bow, and I don’t really need to see how it’ll end.

Drama was the one dragging it down for me. 8 seasons of “I did a guest spot on Law and Order!” or “This (situation) totally happened to my character in Melrose Place!”

The writers must have had bucketloads of those little quips and used every last one of them.

I know the real Ari’s dad. Complete hardass.

whaaaaaat??? Drama is the best character on the show.

E Fucking sucks. I was hoping they would kill him off in the last episode lol. He’s such a whiney little bitch

I bet he is. From what I’ve heard, Ari is considered the ‘career slacker’ in the family.

That explains a lot.

I am just hoping for atleast 3 entourage movies. If shitty actresses Sarah Jessica Parker can make it happen…I truly hope these guys can.

Ari Gold is the funniest character I have ever seen on screen. Well other than Mr.Black on Curb.

X2!
Kevin Dillon in that role was perfect. He’s the reason I watched (until last year).

I wanted to kick E’s whiny little ass myself. It would have been “The Clash of the Dwarfs”, with it ending where I encase him in bronze and put him on my front lawn.

I’m with you guys…I always wanted to strangle him. I haven’t had HBO since E and Sloan got married, so I don’t know what’s been happening, but I always thought the show was good because of Drama, Turtle and Ari. Vince (ironically) always seemed like an afterthought.

I agree. He had the least weight, as far as I was concerned.

Agreed. Piven was almost too perfect for that role.
