Energy Problems With MK-2866

On January 6th I started a test using MK-2866 (Ostarine) to attempt to increase muscle size and strength. On February 17th I stopped taking MK-2866 as a health precaution. I had noticed that I noticed feeling tired whenever I wasn’t eating, sleeping, or working out. It was becoming worse as the test got into the last couple weeks. I was becoming very sensitive to caffeine, that also was worsening each week.

I made some small strength gains in certain exercises, and none in some other exercises. I had gained about a pound toward the end of the six weeks (see graph)

I am supposing that I have become too old for my body to process the MK-2866 without ill effects. It could also be a coincidence that my tired feeling occurred with the taking of MK-2866. But I did start feeling better the first full day after stopping the MK-2866, and still do today. I can again tolerate caffeine without feeling jumpy.

Does anyone have any ideas what might be going on with me?
Has anyone else experienced odd feeling using MK-2866?

From what I have heard from reputable names in the industry, sarms are just not worth the investment. They have very very little research to back their efficacy and safety. Someone my coach worked with was dealing with very similar issues with ostarine and it took them a year to feel normal again after some fuckery with their hormones. It’s a minor acting sarm but evidently can and will mess you up; part of the issue is that it is so easy to access with it being marked as safe and relatively dull in effects.

Conversely, testosterone has nearly a century or so of research into it, might be better off looking there for your goals.

I was doing some research and unfortunately couldn’t find much outside of bro science and “don’t use it” disclaimers. The only good bit I could find was a list of self-reported side effects:

  • Decreased sense of wellness after the first 9 days
  • Testicle Pain
  • Joint pain
  • Reduced strength
  • Testosterone suppression 4 weeks after stopping it (didn’t do PCT)
  • Erection difficulties
  • Disrupted sleep
  • Low energy
  • Depression
  • Increased estrogens
  • Menstrual cycle imbalances
  • Acne and skin changes
  • Headaches
  • Increased hunger
  • Nausea
  • Baldness
  • Although uncommon, some users do report gyno flare-ups

EDIT:
It sounds like some of these side-effects were experienced in your case. I don’t have a good reason as to why though; the Method of Action is not different than most other SARMs in that they bind to Androgen Receptors and increase activity therein.

The forum System edited my title. It added “Energy” to the title.

When working out my energy never felt low. Once my blood started to get into my muscles, I felt like hitting it hard. So I would not have put “energy” in the title.

But I did feel tired most other times.
I am (and was) concerned more about getting myself hospitalized or worse, than anything else. Now, IMO, the title is misleading.

I should have mentioned that I had been taking AAS’s since the 1970’s. I am much older now and on TRT, where I test Total Testosterone in the mid 500’s ng/dL in the trough.

I guess I’m confused. Even without the title change, I thought that you were asking why you were having energy troubles. What is it you are asking here?
Not trying to be crass by any means, I could just use clarification.

Simply putting, why was MK-2866 (if it was that) making me feel like crap? It didn’t seem to negatively affect my workouts. I felt great working out. But it made me feel almost sick my waking moments most times, except when eating. And I was inordinately sensitive to caffeine, in that it made me feel extremely jumpy, or nervous.

I was beginning to wonder what ill effects might be happening internally, hoping they were all reversible. At this time it seems as though they have disappeared.

At face value, that sounds like an energy-related issue, which is why it was edited. “Problem with MK-2866” was super-vague. We try to avoid vague thread titles in order to give members a clue as to what the thread’s topic is before they open it.

I was looking into the Method of Action to figure this out myself, and couldn’t come up with an answer. Usually that’s the meat and potatoes as to what systems it interferes with, but all I found was the typical explanation of SARMS targetting Androgen Receptors.

Feeling like crap was literally the first side effect on the list though, meaning it’s probably the most common of the side effects. Certainly would be nice to understand why it makes people feel like crap though.

I just looked up what part of the body processes caffeine. It said the liver does so. Maybe the MK-2866 was over stressing my liver. Being 73 years old, I am concerned I might be asking a little much of my old liver. And I suppose added stress on my liver could contribute to an ill feeling. I started taking milk thistle about a year ago.

My yearly blood tests for liver function usually test in the high normal region.
