Energy Drinks vs Beer

If only a company, with a free forum, sold energy drinks with zero sugar…:moneybag::moneybag::moneybag:

Why are we forced to choose between alcohol and energy drinks in 2018? Four Loko used to be the best of both worlds until do-godder’s came along and made them get rid of all the caffeine.

I imagine only 4 other people will get this reference, but it’s what immediately sprang to my mind when the topic came up

aside from the fact that energy drinks don’t HAVE to have sugar, this is quite the over-simplification, don’t you think? Maybe you do think this, but it is quite misguided. I can drink a couple or 3 energy drinks every day, at any point during the day, and do just fine in the gym. And as I mentioned earlier, energy drinks have performance enhancers like caffeine, taurine, etc. I cannot have 3 beers before I go to the gym and expect to perform well, nor can I have 3 beers after every gym session and expect to recover well.

Well I see a lot of pissy arguments going on in this thread which I don’t care to go through just to cherry pick the good points. A lot of times I have the bad habit of skimming through quickly or just reading the title or first post. You make some valid points, I was assuming OP was referring to energy drinks with sugar in them obviously. You’re probably right, beer would be worse.

Short answer is- Agreed

It’s better to avoid both things. A lot of sugar and caffeine in energy drinks… Alcohol in beer (and a lot of other harmful ingredients)…

If you are enemy for your body - it’s your choice

I agree one should show restraint with either of these drink options…

  1. there are plenty of sugar-free energy drinks (see earlier posts on this thread)
  2. please name me another “harmful” ingredient in beer (besides the alcohol).

Hops! …I’m allergic tho.

I don’t think I’ve had sugar in an energy drink in the last 4 years. Caffeine is equivalent to coffee.

Isn’t beer the original energy drink? Lots of calories when you have pyramids to build!
