Energy Drinks? How Bad?

Just get the low carb monster… they are great. I personally have some sort of stimulant before lifting since I feel the benifits to my workout outweigh the negative effects. That said, I always drink a no sugar drink or take the Spike pills…

HOT-ROX are another good way to get energy without sugar if you are in a cutting phase.

I’m not saying energy drinks are “good” for you…but which Monster drink are you having?

The regular one (Green), Lo-Carb and Khaos…none have HFCS. I’d have to check the others to know for sure though.

I have a Spike Shotgun every morning. I guess you could say it’s like a morning cup of coffee that coffee drinkers have. It gets me going and has never had a detrimental effect on my strength or muscle gains from lifting. Quite the opposite it has a positive effect on my energy levels for my morning workout.

Shotgun contains B-12 and BETA Alanine and acetyl L tyrosine which to my knowledge are all good for ya in addition to the stimulant effect of caffeine.

As far as bodybuilding goes, you will be fine. They may even help build lean muscle if long as your eating enough. Theres actually a recent study that said people who drink energy drinks lose a lbs or so in a year or less or something like that, while gaining muscle or keeping what they have.

As far as health concerns… I don’t know theres nothing definitive in respect to pure caffeine, but the energy drinks are known to be unregulated and cause heart issues when over consumed.

why not just grab some caffeine pills? they are like $2.80 for 90 caps 200mg/per. i take 2 (400mg total) before i work out, as well as an arginine based caffeine free supplement.

yeah, ive tried to come to a conclusion on the risks, and it seems to be all over the place, each article seems to disprove the previous one i read.
