End of CrossFit?

He’s a republican, so I’m not sure what that means here. Enlighten me though because I’m sure I’m just not seeing.

As for the issue, I think he made some poor word choices, but I don’t see any reason to fire him over them. They weren’t said with I’ll intent I don’t think.

Sure. So is everything ever said by anyone, ever, about anything. I’m not here to suggest that stupid ideas should not be put forward. I’m all about the marketplace of ideas. I’m completely in support of everyone’s ability to express themselves and make themselves heard.

I’m here to suggest that there’s a pattern to a lot of the stupid ideas being put forward now, up to and including the notion that the slightest social media mis-step at any point in social media’s history should cost you your livelihood, your good name and whatever other bad consequences an online outrage mob can impose upon you, should they see fit.

I can broadly call it Marxist nonsense invading our lives. Maybe Glassman’s a righteous target, worthy of destruction. I don’t know enough about the specific situation. I just don’t like the trend.

I hear you. Let me say this one more time. I HEAR YOU.

We vote for president once every four years through a process I hope everyone is familiar with. I’m not sure what else anyone can expect with regard to presidential accountability. I’m not using my vacation time for protesting. If anyone feels like they can use my help with presidential criticism, or if important ground is uncovered that requires my attention, please reach out and I’ll be happy to argue the point for you.

Because it’s one guy with a twitter account a lot of us wish he wouldn’t use, but…

Even in the face of that, it provides a level of transparency into our President, seemingly given by him completely voluntarily, that is unprecedented in politics and world history, perhaps ever.

I understand the “butterfly effect” argument of POTUS tweets, but I can’t really do much about that now, can I?

The Red Guard was a movement of mostly young people with strong passions for improved human outcomes being cynically exploited by people with an entirely different agenda, with no regard at all for human outcomes. To disagree with them was not merely a policy disagreement, it was a character judgement. That’s exactly what’s shaping up right here, right now in the USA.

The mayor of Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA, just sulked away in shame from a mob.

That’s power.

But yes, Trump tweets many things I disagree with. Very strongly, sometimes.

On behalf of conservatives who remain conservative even in the face of a Donald Trump Presidency, please accept our deepest apologies for upsetting so many people on so many levels. I wish people didn’t have to get so upset about this, but it’s a thing, so let’s roll with it.

DOUBLE “this”…!

You missed my point entirely.

I’m left-leaning. Far-left people are calling out a republican who did nothing wrong with ridiculous comments and threatening to fire him, which he doesn’t deserve.

These crazy fucks are the reason that anytime we bring up anything about the right, they can fire back at us. Hence, the crazy lefties are our Donald Trump.

It’s my way of saying, look, our side is acting crazy, and with people like this and social media highlighting everything that people want to see and hear, is it any wonder that people think we’re all crazy?

On behalf of liberals who remain liberal even in the face of rioting retards, please accept our deepest apologies for upsetting so many people on so many levels. I wish we could go back to the early 2000’s when we were all tree-hugging pussies and didn’t have to hear about how we’re going to enslave the human race, but it’s a thing, so let’s roll with it.

Kathy Griffin (a Comedian/Satirist) would sure agree with this.

That term was absolutely idiotic from the beginning. The right will cry every bit as much as the left. Mask while shopping? Massive crying. Fact check the President? Massive crying. Knee during a song? Massive crying.

In the history of the Presidency no one has whined and cried like the side who invented the term which was always stupid as the left and right will both cry about how rough they have it.

The tears of both sides over trivial issues that don’t matter could fill the oceans.

(Be careful, @H_factor…we woudn’t want to suggest the “H” word now would we)?

And oh my Hell…“Virtue Signaling”??? Am I supposed to actually believe that this is somehow a trait exclusive to the Left?

Please.

Sorry…back to CrossFitt.

Will Crossfit Survive? I think so. It’s too large and “culty” to not…and the “boxes”? are individually owned.

Re-brand a little and getting new, large sponsors will keep things on track. And the “affiliates” could probably use a little more formal representation? (NOTE: I know squat (or should I say “box squat”?) about the legal ties between the “boxes” and Corporate “Crossfitt”, so I am speculating).

(Doesn’t Glassman suffer from some chronic illness/condition?)

But that’s just it, it isn’t just one guy with a twitter account. It’s a government official, the holder of the highest executive office in the land, who has been calling the press the enemy of the people, telling cops to rough up the people in their custody, telling his fans he will pay for their legal fees if they assault other civilians (spoiler, they did and he didn’t), and now he is using the court system to attempt to silence a private company. Last week he instructed the police to use force and chemicals on a peaceful Protest, infringing on their first amendment rights. He didn’t pass a law to do it though so I guess who gives a shit?

The Republican Party continues to grovel at his feet as well, lest they be tossed into the cornfield by his base. His actions are getting bolder, the people in the government that can and would stop him are dwindling as he fires them, and the remaining are so worried about a negative tweet from him that they don’t speak up. It’s not going to get better if he wins in November. There are no better angels to his nature, only worse devils.

I get it, you don’t like his tweets… but you are either being willfully obtuse at this point or you don’t actually care as much as you let on if you really think his tweets are an isolated phenomenon that do nothing but reside as bits and bytes on a website hard drive.

I also get that Nothing is going to turn you liberal, or convince you to vote for Biden, but I really, REALLY think you are being too flippant about the guys tweets and the way he incites people to behave and the stuff he tries to get away with, even if he doesn’t pass a law to do so or if he leaves behind Kavenaugh and Gorsusch.

No doubt at all about this. CrossFit is established no doubt. It’s not going anywhere. It might need to do some rebranding or something, but it’s far too big for one dumbasses comments to ruin it.

Now if we could just get rid of the annoying insistence on those stupid names. “What’s your Murph time? Oh man I’m exhausted Fran day in the 90 degree heat.”

Please refer to the 498 votes to end Obamacare by the republicans in office during his term knowing it would go nowhere.

Honestly I’d be surprised if 5% of CrossFit gym goers know who Glassman is, and if 5% of them know about this incident at all. It’s going to be a blip on the radar in a year

Michael Murphy, KIA, Afghanistan, 2005, posthumously awarded the Congressional MOH.

Don’t mean to jump on your language, but I’d definitely choose a different workout name to rag on than the one named after a medal of honor recipient. Also solidly agree on throwing around the other names like people are supposed to know what you’re talking about - just a poor first choice, haha.

Well that changes it. Had absolutely no idea and shows my lack of knowledge about the details of it. Are all the names tributes like that in some sort of way? If so that would certainly change the way I look at that. I just always thought the naming was supposed to be some type of edgy thing to differentiate from saying do a bunch of cleans after doing a bunch of pull-ups or something.

Lots of the workouts apparently have origins to their names, but Murph is special in that it was a workout that Lt. Murphy used to do, and every year, a lot of veterans and other people run it on Memorial Day (myself included, this year). I think the idea behind hurricanes being given female names is why most of the workouts have female names, and I’m a bit ignorant about the other workouts myself, but as a veteran, Murph is the one that stands out to me.

It’s no worries, and I’m not offended by it (gasp), just was pointing out you randomly landed on the worst one you could have here, haha.

I almost forgot, @Lonnie123

Who is going to give up something that creates all of these hot women? lol!

No not all of them by a long shot. I do believe more veteran WODs have been added but can’t remember all the names.

Most of the chick names are random

YES you were, you damn snowflake!

(Just kidding!)

Yeah during my “investigation” earlier into his twitter stuff I read that he named the WODs after women because that’s how hurricanes used to be named and that’s how destructive he considered the workouts, and that “something that leaves you breathless on the floor can only be named after a woman” or something like that.

There’s a bunch of military workouts, with Murph being the most(only?) well known. Never done it myself but maybe I’ll try it out some day… maybe I’ll do it 30 days in a row like that guy in the T-transformation this year

Fair enough.

What do you think I should do?
