A great place from my past is shutting it’s doors, packing up and moving to Vegas. This joint used to smell like piss and week old bong water, there was always blood and beer on the dance floor, but it was a great place for some raw rock and roll. RIP, CBGB. Looks like I outlived you after all!

Although I’ve played field hockey for eight years, my best defensive maneuver was not on the field, but here at CBGB’s, back in 1978. It was a rowdy night of slam dancing and we were the third of three warm-up bands. This was one of the few places that put on local garage bands with the likes of Blondie and the Ramones.
Someone pitched a bottle at me and I blocked it with my Fender. It took a small chunk of wood off my guitar and exploded onto the floor in front of me. A fight started and our set was over. That guitar saved my life. If you look at the photo in my profile you can still see the small gash on the left side that’s still there forever as a reminder that I owe one to the devil.
