If the UFC does pick up Kimbo…I promise you they will pit him against Shane Carwin. Just my gut feeling.

I’d feed Kimbo to Shane Carwin…I actually think Carwin would murder Brock.

I was ticked we didn’t get to see Carwin’s fight over the weekend. If he needs some air time, as not a lot of people know about him. Dude is a stud.
I watched the UK Broadcast, and they showed it. Carwin is a fucking monster. They mentioned that he has been Randy’s main training partner in preparation for his Brock fight. Supposedly, his hands are BIGGER than Brock’s, and the actually had to size up the gloves they use for Brock to fit on his giant hams.

Hahaha that would be nice. If you have a TJ Max where you live you should check it out every now and again - my wife has found me brand spanking new gear there twice for 1/2 price. ($25 for Affliction shirts)

Considering they paid Sylvia $800,000 to get prison raped by Fedor…who was only…“ONLY”…paid $300,000. They need math lessons or they will tank next.
Fedor got alot more than that. He just took it in the form of an appearance fee rather than straight up purse. That’s what the word is anyway, supposedly he took home well over a million for that fight.

Maybe so…but the point is that Affliction as a new unestablished organization will tank if they try to keep the payout pace set by their first event.

I would personally love to see the UFC open it’s doors for the female fighters. Can you imagine the ticket sales for that!?! As for Kimbo, I can only say treat him like any other “up and coming” fighter. If the UFC did sign him, they’d do well to relegate him to strictly undercard status and allow him to grow as a fighter. While he did get put down with a jab, stranger things have happened in the cage.

I guess this means we very well might see Nick Diaz back in the UFC. Or the WEC. Nick versus Condit would be fun.
Condit needs a promotion to the UFC; and yes, a fight there vs. Diaz would be awesome.

According to Brock Lesnar that’s a title shot after a 1-1 record.

ticket sales + women fighting-> less ticket sales

Unfortunately that’s probably true. Dana has said that women’s mma is never coming to the ufc. Dana says a lot of things, but i worry this might be true.

Additionally, this pretty much invalidates every argument anyone ever had against carano doing gladiators, or posing in maxim or any of the mainstream stuff she’s done. True, there might’ve been a FEW people who were merely irked by the fact that she didnt make weight - which is odd, because while Lutter and Alves may’ve been abused for the same offense, the venom against them did not rise to the same level.

But overall there was this idea that Gina is under some kind of obligation towards MMA, to devote 100% effort to mma and only mma. These are the same people who baffingly slam Mark Henry for “wasting” his potential by wrestling instead of going for the all-time total or winning WSM or something. I’m sure those same objections will continue, even after a brutal reminder like this that even when you give your all to an endeavor like MMA, you sometimes - often? - don’t get repaid in the sense that you thought you would.

And I hurry to say that while i do use “repay” at least partially in the financial sense, there’s a lot more to it than that. There are plenty of beat up football players who did fine financially, but I still question if they feel it was worth it.

I think she would be crazy not to cash in. Just like Mark Henry is smart to tale a WWE paycheck.

Exactly. No shame in athletes going another route and making as much money as they can.

Maybe she’ll do porn.

Shhhhhhh!! Dont jinx it!!

Nah, we should be so lucky. Even if there isnt another viable promotion for her to fight in, she’s a name now, she’s got a million dollar smile and she comes off as very intelligent and well-spoken.

On the other hand, if she wanted to display her sexuality in such a manner as to throw off the shackles of the patriarchal misogyny, I would of course support her in that … and be on the internet searching for it as soona s it was released.

I’m stealing this.

In all seriousness, though, women would make a great addition to the newly pared down WEC. I know Dana and the Ferttita’s have been adamant against women fighting (and I don’t ever see it being on a UFC PPV), but they only say what benefits them at that immediate time and place. Randy was a piece of shit two months ago, now he is the greatest fighter in UFC history. Brock Lesnar was a meathead dumbass in K-1 Dynamite, now he is unstoppable force of aggression.

Now that all these women aren’t shoring up the competitors ranks, their negative attitude could very well change. I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

I never really thought about this angle, but you’re right, the WEC would give them a perfect avenue to test the waters on the financial viability of women’s MMA as it wouldn’t be as much of a risk as putting them on a PPV card and could appeal to Zuffa.
