If they fund nothing they are worthless and therefore your point about the taxes creating the value of fiat currency becomes null and void.

Man, you just can’t grasp this, can you? Try paying your taxes in another form(other than the U.S. dollar), then let everyone know what happens. And tell us that the currency has no value, while it is the only thing that keeps you out of jail. And just because taxes don’t fund programs doesn’t mean the currency doesn’t.
It does work. It is how monetary operations actually work. Explain to me why the fed. budget works like a personal? You DO NOT understand the difference between the fed. government being the sole currency issuer and everyone else being a currency user. This difference gives you much more fiscal space as revenue IS NOT needed to fund programs. The rich are irrelevant. And all the fear-mongering about the debt is just that, designed to scare you and keep power over you… Keep having people believe that the debt is a monster, while Japan’s debt to GDP ratio is twice that of the U.S. Has it fallen apart like one of your economic hero’s Rogoff said. When countries get to the 90% ratio, that is the tipping point. Japan’s is around 250%. What happened?
