I think we will see a world record for filibustering.
Where was the coming together when Obama was president?
The GOP literally made an agreement to be obstructionist against Obama.
Having said that, I do hope that dems give him a chance. Yet remain vigilant.
My greatest hope is that the “establishment” both democrat and republican take this as a message to get their shit together and start working together to make some progress in the country.
I saw Paul Ryan speaking and he didn’t exactly look like he was celebrating. Just shocked. I hope both parties are going to take this as a lesson to listen to their constituencies rather than try to tell them what to think.

I’m with you on this. In addition to a lot of serious Apocalyptic tears and gnashing of teeth and calling half the country every name in the book…there is some really good journalism being done today by some outlets. Talking about the echo chambers political parties have been living in, and media, and all the rest. I’ll try to post some later
LOVE this statement in a piece you posted:
“…While many will call this a mandate for Donald Trump; it’s better read as an anti-mandate for Hillary Clinton…”
I think that pretty much sums it up.
I would add this to the piece though, @Powerpuff…
I don’t think another candidate (say, Jeb Bush) could have galvanized the Conservative Electorate the way Trump did.
The reality is, that he DID give voice to what people were thinking (good or bad).
They don’t any more than a vote for Trump is really a vote for racism and bigotry. My experience with working class Americans is that they tend to be more crass in word, but far more giving and open in deed, then the groups I have worked with over the years (wealthy, bankers, funds). I’m taking a wait and see attitude on our buffoon
He promised to work with everyone then flat out refused to even see members of Comgress. If you think the gridlock was all on the Republican side then you missed quite a bit of what went on over the last 8 years. The republicans just swept everything. The Democrats would call this a mandate for change. Trump’s speech was generous. Understand that I’m not exactly a pro-Trump. Historically, I’ve been a moderate/economic issues Republican with pro-libertarian on social issues. I’m now a registered independent. Just providing context
I always wondered about that line of thinking. Where did you get the idea from? Hillary has a history of international interventionism. As in starting wars, taking out leaders, funding revolutions, things like that. Trump on the other hand is close to being isolationist and does not believe in being the worlds cops. Hilary does see the usa as the worlds cop.
I cant see where you get that opinion from?
Category 4:
Milleneials who didn’t grow up as pussies who need a safe space. They think Hillary is as crooked now as she was in the 90’s and knows Johnson didnt have a shot. They’re tired of being corrected in college for asinine mental gymnastics.
I know nearly as many of these as I do Bernie supporters.
Damn, I like hearing that
Anyone else excited to see who goes down post election?
- Hillary hopefully
- Mainstream media who pushed hitler stuff
- Lying twats who accused Trump of rape

Lying twats who accused Trump of rape
You still don’t know they are lying. Sexual predator in the white house…'Merica
Hillary hopefully
She’s too old to give it another run…I hope
Mainstream media who pushed hitler stuff
Very few, if any ‘pushed’ hitler stuff. Some random people mentioned it, and specifically here YOU were the only one to go there. Still want the president to use Nazi blueprints for how to round people up?
@usmccds423 @smh_23 from PWI
You’re a prick.
“…I cant see where you get that opinion from…”
From the same place I didn’t think that Clinton was a shoe-in, and that Trump could possibly win…just intuition and feeling…that’s all…
We’ll see how much Trump can keep his enormous ego in check, won’t we?

I never wrote that a vote for Trump is a vote for racism and bigotry.
I wrote-
- There is an unknown number of people who voted for Trump who hold strong white nationalist/racist tendencies. Afaik, virtually every white nationalist organization in the U.S. celebrated Trump’s victory as a victory for their values.
There is reason for minorities to be worried about this.
-I found it worrying that the Republican establishment and the general voting population didn’t take Trump’s racist comments and apparent relation with the white nationalists seriously enough to actually kick him out.
I think I understand why they didn’t. Clinton simply cannot be elected and attempting to sabotage your own Pres. nominee won’t do. There are so much at stake for the Republican Party that they’ll hold their noses and support the man.
Fine. This doesn’t change any of the facts regarding Trump and his racist comments and generally just being mean to everyone he doesn’t like.
Now is the real test for the Republican Party and Trump.
Will Trump continue on with his racism now that he has won the big prize? Will the Republican Party continue turning a blind eye to it?
We’ll see.
The point I want to make is that there is some genuine danger for minorities here. I’ve already stated that I firmly do not believe in some grand path of equality and liberty that we can’t help but follow, and that the pendulum can swing back at any given time.

When the Nazis came for the communists,
I remained silent;
I was not a communist.
When they locked up the social democrats,
I remained silent;
I was not a social democrat.
When they came for the trade unionists,
I did not speak out;
I was not a trade unionist.
When they came for the Jews,
I remained silent;
I wasn’t a Jew.
When they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out.[/quote]
Note- I’m not comparing Trump to Nazis or Hitler. Hell, I’ve previously argued on other boards that, by the metric people seemed to be using for why Trump is Hitler, Sanders can be equated to Hitler too!
All I want to say is that turning a blind eye to things and hoping for the best is rarely a good tactic.
“…All I want to say is that turning a blind eye to things and hoping for the best is rarely a good tactic…”
This fact can’t be emphasized enough, majick.
A person or group will ultimately destroy themselves from within if they do…
LOL!
“…I hate negros! I hate the colored people!..”
“…Lena Dunham’s ass, I can’t tell which!”
That’s made me laugh out loud for real…
Afaik, virtually every white nationalist organization in the U.S. celebrated Trump’s victory as a victory for their values
Couldn’t the same be said about when Obama was president? There are fringe crazies on both sides that would of celebrated had the candidate that is closes to their views wins.

That’s one of my favorite poems. Ironically, I’ve seen this used to talk about Hillary as well.
