Egypt Erupting

Ho Chi Minh would rather have worked with America than against it. The US backed France against him and such idiocy cost Vietnam and the US dearly.

ROME, February 3, 2011 â?? Much of the Egyptian population that in recent days has rebelled against the thirty-year regime of Hosni Mubarak says that it prefers democracy to any other form of government.

At the same time, however, and in an overwhelming majority, they want those who commit adultery to be stoned, thieves to have their hands cut off, and those who abandon the Muslim religion to be put to death.

This is the result of a survey conducted in Egypt and in six other majority Muslim countries by the Washington-based Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life, the world leader for research in this field:

Muslims-Christian violence you say?

Yes, I know about the Copts and Muslim relationship, my cousin did a two year mission out there a a years ago. Doesn’t mean I’m still not worried about the religious minorities in Egypt if something goes down. If you don’t remember a someone put a bomb in a Coptic Church not too long ago, what like a month and a half ago?

damn it, now i’m stuck in Gaza because of this. my university is in Egypt and now it’s closed, and Rafah Border Crossing is closed.
Fuck Mubarak he ruled Egypt for 30 years and he wants his son to take over after him!

Actually, one of the reasons why Palestinians voted for Hamas is spite voting, not unlike some Republicans in the USA.

Let’s say you’re in youe 20ies live in a dirt poor, overcrowded environment and have absolutely NO future - like the Gaza strip. No prospect of a job, an education, a girlfriend / wife or a chance to leave this de facto prison.

The only chance of getting laid is believing the promises that blowing yourself up in an Israeli supermarket will get you a bunch of virgins for your eternal pleasure.

Now tell, who’d you vote for? You’d vote for the organization that promises SOME form of revenge for the injustices (perceived of real) that you believe to experience daily. And you certainly wouldn’t vote for allies of people you claim to have put you in such a state (Fatah for example)

I’m not saying that there is “right” or “wrong” side in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. I’m just saying that the motivation why Palestinians voted for Hamas is perfectly clear. The same reason Chinese villagers supported Mao in the early years of the Civil War or Ho Chi Min or Bolsheviks in czarist Russia for that matter.

You seriously think some villager in Vietnam gave a fuck about US of A and its policies? Viet Cong promised food, perceived addressing of wide-spread social injustices. At least at the beginning.

BTW, Ho Chi Min desperately wanted to be an American ally, even sending numerous pleading letters to OSS officials.

The same logic applies, to a lesser extent, in the US of A. Look at the amount of political vitriol aimed at the current administration over (perceived or real) injustices - “Kenyan”, “Obamacare”, “muslim foreigh-born terrorist who will take our money” etc. And the gloating when plans of “Obama, liberal media, gay establishment etc.” fail.

And to believe that other nations in more extreme circumstances wouldn’t behave more extreme along the same lines is bullshit.

So if YOU’RE not supporting your current goverment and taking in to the streets over stuff like healthcare and taxes, what makes you believe that a Palestinian who has no economic, social and educational future would choose something other that “lunatics who promise to fuck up people who did them wrong”

If this is true, this is a great thing. The people understand that violence and bullets sometimes have no names, and they are all in it together.

One question, do you hate Jews? Not Israel, Jews.
Do you believe Israel has the right to exist where they are?

[Edit:] Your posts were good, I just want to know where you stand on this.

i have nothing against Jews, i respect there religion, and i also respect Christians.
i’m against Zionists who took my land and killed my people, and btw some Jews support our cause. Do i believe Israel has the right to exist? No, not in Palestine. but i’m willing to live peacefully with them in my country as long as they admit it’s our country.

really sad! 14 were killed.

Your land? Who did your people take it from?

As far as I understand the Jews actually paid for the land.

edit: This is a pretty scary post. It was NEVER your country. You need a history lesson but I am sure you have been so heavily propagandized that it wouldn’t matter.

There will be no peace in the middle east.

A christian against Israel. They may want to reread their scripture.
