This is a straw man argument at best. Again if you are looking at Cuba, the US effectively left them alone by not trading with them allowing them to fail. And again, the people are so happy there that to this day (with the embargo lifted) they still brave the seas on homemade rafts to come to America. Why would they do that if it is not or at least promises better? Why are people fleeing from Venezuela and Honduras to come here? Maybe because being poor as shit due to bad socialist policies has dire consequences.
