Bravo U.S. Is it any wonder why most of the world population hates this country?

Interesting that the Australians went in and saved their asses, scared the pro-Indonesian militias off, provided medical aid and oversaw serious elections. Bastards!
What does this have to do with U.S. arms sales to the Indonesians?
According to Bush 2 Australia is the US deputy in the region and hence all it worked out well.

“According to Bush 2” What else did you expect? In the end when Indonesia got what it wanted, maybe. But how is this a justification for U.S. arms sales to Indonesia?

Dunno, who supplies them with humanitarian aide and security when they otherwise try ethnic cleansing?
What exactly do you mean?
I’ve been deployed and have been part of humanitarian missions back in 99-02 conducted in E. Timor via alliance with Aus. Heinous shit was going on in 99, ethnic cleansing, women mutilated and dead via broomstick, etc… Who was it that helped these people when all was said and done? The U.S. and Australia. Doesn’t make things right, as we did set things up to get uglier before we stepped in to fix things over there.
One has to question why we backed their military with the sale of weaponry when we knew they were murdering the East Timorese.
I thought the weapon sales were prior to what occured in E. Timor.

What makes sense to me is this… The oil between Indonesia and E Timor is a resource Indonesia would want.

The rest of it is up for interpretation. Maybe Aus is friendly and donating millions to E. Timor for future oil, maybe thats why the U.S. helped… I only know what I saw.

The way I see arms in the world, everyone is dirty. Anytime there is a natural resource, top dogs look to exploit it whether it’s minerals in the Congo or Oil off the coast of E. Timor. Just happy I was able to be part of helping folks out tbh, very disturbing to realize what drove it in the first place, and who supplied the arms… That isn’t something I’m part of or proud of.
