Something you said a while back got me thinking…it was something about being cooped up for months because it was cold or snowy or something. I enjoy the outside workouts & have gotten lazy 'cause it’s cold outside. I decided to do something about it because you motivated me! A friend bought over two huge tractor tires & 135lb anvil and I went to Home Depot and bought a 16lb sledge. When i got back home I set up a course. I hit the tire 20 times from each shoulder, than i carried the anvil 30 yds over uneven terrain & back, & repeated 3 more times…as i sit here typing, I feel like a steam roller hit me!!! I hope I have the balls to continue doing this type of workout & I owe all to your motivating me!

Awsome QT! I know that feeling you speak of. I try to do those workouts on days I don’t have to go to work afterwards. I’m draggin’ my ass all day, and eating, eating, eating. I miss my tire in the Winter. I’ve tried flipping in the snow, and it just slids across the snow. I can’t grip it well enough to get it over.
Thanks Biggjames, steamline, Jimmy, for the kind words and motivation.
Well, again yesterday, I thought about what I would do today without anything jumping out at me. I’m doing my best to keep it fresh, each week different than last. So, I thought I would have a D/E day, starting with Bench Press.
D/E Bench
1x10xbar
1x10x95
1x8x135
1x6x175
1x4x205
1x2x225
10x3x145
Deads
10x3x205
Abs
3x20
I’ve gotta keep this quick today. The roads are treacherous, and I’ve gotta be to work early.
Squats
1x10xbar
1x10x95
1x8x135
1x21x185
It’s been a while since I was able to do a 20 rep squat. Last time I tried I used 200 I think and failed at 14. 185 is just shy of 50% of my old SRM, so, I’m feelin’ good about gettin’ 21.
CG BP
1x8x135
1x6x155
6x4x185
DZ-Those high rep sets are tuff!!Way to go.
Jimmy T
Way to power it out DZ. Must be all that cold fresh air and good healthy living. Keep it strong Bro.
When I get done with my fantasy that a NFL team is looking for a 44 year old D-Tackle. I’m going to train this way for a cycle or two! I like the intensity!
Thanks guys! I really dig hanging out here at T-Nation with you guys, other men my age working hard for their individual goals. I really enjoy challenging myself physically. The older I get, the stronger I get and it feels great. I’ll be 47 in a couple weeks, and I feel better than when I was turning 30.
I know I sound like a broken record, but the temp is all the way up to 20 today, and it’s starting to snow. We’re supposed to get another 4-8 inches today and tonight. Since yesterday’s workout was kind of short, I’m going out to the yard to play for a while.
8 sets with the 80lb stone
4 sets of cinder block farmers
DZ I’ve never knew snow to have such great health benefits. The deeper it gets the stronger you get, go figure. Almost makes me want to move there. Snow=strength, stay strong Bro.
Got to go with Colin. Too close to my throwing season to change up right now but after that I’m going to get into some of this type lifting. I’m thinking it will have a real carry over to the Scotish Games. Keep it up guy, you’re a real inspiration.

It is very nice here along the Eastern shore of Lake Michigan, but the snow gets kind of old after a while. We’ll go for weeks where it will snow everyday. I’m sure where you are is much nicer. Thanks Bro.

I really appreciate the kind words hel320. There’s not much method to this madness. I’m just trying to get as much mass as quickly as possible with the big heavy lifts, and good eatin’. Tryin’ to keep it mixed up and fresh so the growing doesn’t stop. Basically, I’m makin’ this shit up as I go. The more difficult the better. You guys keep me inspired!
I’ve gotta get into work early again today, and it’s gonna be a tough drive, so, I’ve need to get in some tough lifting pretty quickly again.
Good Mornings

Outa time, gotta go. Have a great weekend, and enjoy the game fellas!
Strong training DZ!Way to go on your PR.

Jimmy’s log said he was going to do squats and deads today. I thought that sounded like a good idea. I do have considerable difficulty doing back squats without a proper rack, but I’ll give it a go.
Squats
1x10xbar
1x10x95
1x8x135
1x6x185
4x6x225
1x2x245
1x2x265
1x2x285 New living room PR
1x1x305 Fuckin’ shattered my previous best pulling the bar off of my bench, walking into the living room with it, squat it, then walk it back to the bench. The last time I pulled 275 off the bench like that, I was too afraid to try anything heavier than that. I started going to the gym on Saturday mornings to squat.
See if I have anything left for Deads. ![]()

I’m toast fellas, feeling good about that workout. Going out to go sledding with the kids before the game starts. I can hear my reclining couch calling me already.
Godsmack, and Drowning Pool for music today.
Man, don’t ever buy any more equipment. It would make you lazy and take away half your workout. I think we need to recognize these as official USLR records. You have established the first record. Keep it up.
I agree wih hel320 brother. It blows me away to hear your walking around the house with the weight.Straight up hardcore!!!Nice work.
Jimmy T
You blow me away, dedication and determination are your middle names. Way to go Bro, never stop, never give up. Stay strong, live long!
