I want to burn some DVD’s from my camcorder but windows movie maker cannot burn to DVD. Why the hell would they make the program if it cant burn to DVD? Any recommendations on software for editing and burning home movies.
Roxio is ok, Neo is good. On the higher end is Pinnacle.
Nero Burning ROM is the best I’ve found. Roxio allows you to actually do some editing.
Roxio is some of the buggiest software I have had the displeasure of throwing my money at.
Nero (Ahead software) is light years ahead as far as the quality of the product. Features are fairly similar.
The problem with burning video to DVD rom is that you must “organize” the info so that a DVD player can read it. It’s not a simple data file like an audio file, so you need DVD authoring software.
Most DVD burning programs include rough authoring software. Believe me, it is not exactly intuitive, but after you’ve done one, the rest become easy. I would STRONGLY recommend Nero software. I’ve found it to be the most stable of the programs out there (and it will occasionally bomb; maybe once out of 20).
Do yourself a favor, get it and nothing else. You can download a trial (reduced feature) version for 30 day trial. www.nero.com
Enjoy.
Thanks for the responses, I downloaded Nero demo last night and will check it out tonight. So far it looks really easy to use which is good because there is a lot of editing in my home movies.
If you want to do a LOT of editing, you might be better off with something like PowerDirector or PowerProducer from Cyberlink:
