on a site like this im sure we have a lot of people who are fans of the bottle, so what are your favourite drinking songs?
top three:
1: home for a rest-great big sea
2: night train-GNR
3: barroom hero-drop kick murphys
Anything by Dropkick, but specifically
“Kiss Me I’m Shitfaced”.
“Sweet Caroline” but that’s because I’m a Sox fan.
“Welcome to the Jungle”
“Piano Man”
“Born to Run”
“Crazy Bitch”
And, if you’re in bad way while drinking, “Whipping Post”.

Good call on the Dropkick Murphys! I think any Dropkick Murphys song is a suitable drinking song.
Johnny Cash - Boy Named Sue
“Blarney Stone” by Ween. Preferably in a full room and someone puking the background.
Flogging Molly works like a charm too.

Any good irish song, not limited to Dropkick and Flogging Molly. Particularly renaissance/medieval: english/saxon/pictish drinking ballads.
When you do the faires for a few years you get to learn a few.

Good call on Black Flag.

One December I was having a pint in the Brazen Head in Dublin. There was a traditional band covering “Fairytale of New York” by the Pogues. The middle aged crowd of locals (and me) was soused and loving it.
I can’t believe no one has mentioned the ultimate drinking song yet: “Louie Louie.” Haven’t you guys seen Animal House?

Point. and all the irish tunes. But I have to add
Have a Drink on me–AC/DC
Shake a leg–AC/DC
and “You, me, and the bottle makes 3” by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy
I have to post this. This was put up at the local Irish “pub” (doesn’t really exist in a college town). By my favorite author no less–
Ho! Ho! Ho! to the bottle I go.
To heal my heart and drown my woe.
Rain may fall and wind may blow,
And many miles be still to go,
But under a tall tree I will lie,
And let the clouds go sailing by.
