Saturday 15th November - First PL Comp
weighed in at 89.2kg, with clothes on
(waist down to 36.75")
Squat -
Opened with 170kg
First attempt - overwhelmed by crowd and judges, went too deep, couldn’t get my legs to work
Second attempt - over-compensated for last time and cut it too high, two red lights
Third attempt - forced to lift 170kg again, got it this time but a little disappointed seeing as I had planned to make my third attempt a new PR of 200kg
Bench -
After learning about competing the hard way with the squat I nominated an opener of 70kg to give me some confidence.
Second attempt - 92.5kg, leaving a little in the tank for my third attempt which I thought was reasonable
Third attempt - 100kg, got to sticking point, prepared for the grind, but shoulder went ‘click’ and right side lowered just a fraction, spotters obliged to take it
Did not realise heels had to be on ground, will have to work on either flexibility or lifting with blocks under my feet.
Deadlift -
First attempt 140kg, easy
Second attempt 160kg, also easy
Third attempt 175kg, new PR, also easy.
Realised I have to make lock-out more obvious, I just kept leaning back until judge gave the signal.
Also realised I am allowed to have spectators or coach to call my depth in squat. However, I might take the advice of event organiser and just descend slowly in squat, then drop quickly below parallel and bounce out of suit.
Must jack my suit up!!! The 35 was loose, hardly any bruises. Weight loss+use=useless suit with absolutely no pop. I think I will jack the 35 up for training closer to next comp, then use 34 in comp if I can come back down to 90kg class.
Will definitely invest in Titan F6 for benching, sooner rather than later. 10/12 people benched equipped.
