its like google for torrents !
Check thepiratebay again, should be working.
Alright, I guess there are way too many posts for me to reply individually, but thanks a lot guys.
I appreciate the help, and I appreciate no one turning this into a moral thing too.

Uh, Amazon?
I pay like 6 bucks for some albums.
Guess I’m the only sucker that actually pays for music, hunh? [/quote]
No, I pay for most of what I get. Artist gotta eat too.
I pay too. I’m wary of downloading virus’ etc off the internet… spyware… etc. But I’m no saint… I buy CD’s I really want and when friends come over I ask them to bring their ipods and just take stuff I’m interested in off of there. Ipod Access is your friend… not to mention it saved my music collection a number of times after hard drive crashes.
Soulseek. It’s P2P oldschool, but it’ll have any song you want. Not so great for movies or anything else, but it can’t be beat for music.

Thanks, boys. I like my steak rare.
I pay for a subsciption to limewire. It is cheap and I am sure I wont get a virus.

But you hear of artists selling a record million copies of their albums (yes I know it may be harder for a upcoming artist). One song won’t make a difference in hindering them making money. This is just the way I think of it feel free to point of flaws.
I have never gone to the extent of downloading an entire album but individual songs I like. I don’t think I even have a album size worth of songs for a single artist. I have maybe 400 songs. But I know people who have over like 3,000 songs, little excessive IMO.
And I thought it was illegal to download music in the States? My friend went there for baseball and is from Canada and they threatened to shut his internet down cause he was downloading so much illegally. Canada dose not have such a law if anyone is wondering…
Bands I really like I will buy, however some bands put tracks on their albums that are just noise, literaly. It’s just filler. Not every song can be a #1 hit but sometimes I feel totally fucked over with one minute tracks of feedback. Trent Reznor, are you listening?
I use LimeWirePro…a pirated version no less lol.
Easy, Fuzz, no need to explain, I still love ya.
I’ve got a daytime job, download away.

I wasn’t trying to be snarky or argumentative lol. Sorry if I came across like that.
I consider it stealing to download music without paying for it. I will not do it except under certain circumstances, such as when a song isn’t availible for purchase, when it’s obscure/underground shit, etc. If you can’t buy the music, you can always listen to it on the internet without downloading it. I have too much respect for musicians to steal from them.

I suppose I could, but it would take a bit of time, since the problem is solved for me now and I’m in no rush. But sure, maybe I’ll bump this thread up if I decide to try the other ones.
Thanks for the subsequent suggestions folks, and thanks again for the original ones too.
I spoke way to soon when I thanked everyone for not turning this into a moral debate, but oh well, at least the thread didn’t take this turn earlier…
When Napster went belly up I gave up on downloading music. CD’s for the win!

If 1 person downloads 1 song, you’re right, it won’t make a difference. If millions of people download that song (which happens all the time), and possibly other songs from the album (also happens all the time), you better believe “the people” are taking money out of their (the artist’s) pocket. And you’re part of “the people”.

Honestly, I couldn’t give 2 shits about whether people download songs without paying for them. I probably have 100 or so illegally downloaded songs myself (out of 3k, that ain’t bad!).
However, people shouldn’t act like they’re not costing these artists any money. Or people justify it by saying these artists already make enough money, etc. Haven’t they earned it?
No one wants to take any blame for downloading only a few hundred songs but everyone wants free music, you know?

Relax dude, I wasn’t really complaining about your post, or even everyone discussing it. I was saying that I’m glad I got the help I needed before it happened. That’s what I was worried about when I started the thread.
I have my views on this too that can be summed up as, in the long run downloading is at best a good thing and at worst insignificant. There actually was a pretty good thread about it here in the summer and I made a long ass post there, but I’m too lazy to retype it/find the old one, and I didn’t want to derail my own thread.
Misunderstanding I guess.
