Download vs Ozzfest

So I was checking out the line-ups for both festivals. Ozzfest is one day, download is three days so it’s at an advantage.

Ozzfest:

Ozzy, Motely Spew, Halford, Nonpoint, Black Label Society, Drowning Pool, Kingdom Of Sorrow, Goatwhore, Skeletonewhich, Saviours, Kataklysym.

Download:

AC/DC, RATM, Aerosmith, Them Crooked Vultures, Wolfmother, Deftones, Stone Temple Pilots, Megadeath, Motorhead, Lamb of God, Five Finger Death Punch, Hell Yeah, Tacking Dawn, Cinderella, Billy Idol, Saxon, Ratt, Dommin, Coheed and Cambria, A day To Remember, 36 Crazy Fists, Job for A Cowboy, Unearth, Lawnmower Deth, Him, The Balckout, Volbeat, We are The Fallen, Rise to Remain, Y&T, Airbourne, Steel Panther, Dillinger Escape Plan, August Burns Red, Whitchapel.

Pretty obvious who wins…UK punters lol.

Anyway, I would like to know why these types of line-ups like download don’t happen here in North America more often. I realize Woodstock can’t happen every year but fuck.

Is it because:

A: Promotors suck balls here.
B: To expensive here to promote.
C: Bands make more cash in Europe.
D: Insurance costs.
E: No one would go(ticket prices too high)
D: Europe is a society that digs these kind of festivals more than us here and it’s more of a culture thing.

I want to say I hope it rains all weekend for these lucky fuckers cause I’m soooooo jealous but I would be lying, I hope it’s great weather and any here in T land that are going(UK) have a great time.

Thoughts?

Man ur looking at the wrong festivals here in Europe. The UK put on some great festivals but they are attended by wanks and are VERY VERY expensive. for a great festival go to the mainland. so much cheaper at the actual festival, the tickets are cheaper too because most companies are non profit that organise the fests on the mainland.

I was able to travel from glasgow to a festival in poland (open’er) spend 4 days at the festival, then 2 days afterwards on the beach and exploring the area including all costs for cheaper than a ticket to a UK fest.

Go figure.

So many bands on that Download list I’d love to see live…

Are you including bands from the second stage for Ozzfest?

Here in the states a few years back “Sounds of the Underground” was a great summer tour. They canned it after a few years because it couldn’t compete with Ozzfest (at the time). Sad.

Yep, both stages…pretty sad imo.

Ozzfest is terrible nowadays. Ozzie is worth seeing once for shits and giggles (it’s surprising how well he can actually still sing though) and I was fortunate enough to see him when he was back together with the Black Sabbath band for a little bit. BLS is decent but honestly I have found them weak live. Most of the other bands, you would have to pay me to see.

I can’t believe RATM is playing that venue. Sad to say but I think all of the people who have been calling them hypocritical sellouts are turning out to be right. Doesn’t change the fact that their music is incredible though. Dillinger is a band you have to see at least once in your life. Any band that actually does weight and interval training so they would be faster, more explosive and have more stamina for their live shoes (saw an interview with their frontman talking about this) earns my respect.
