The very last party that I went to a local basketball player for the university here in Fort Smith Arkansas got shot in the head by a 16 year old boy.
At least that is what I gathered from the events that transpired. An older guy was touching women innappropiately and this basketball player said something to him. The guy goes outside, gets some 16 year old kid to come back in and shoot him. I believe he is still alive, but not doing so well.
So please, there is plenty of risk involved in this day and age, even in freaking Arkansas. I only say this because it was an event that happened so close to me that it kind of opened my eyes a little bit.
Myself and my girlfriend were there along with many of our friends, and I guarantee you that any one of us would have said the same thing to the guy had we seen what he was doing. Which in turn would have resulted in myself or a friend of mine with with a gunshot wound to the head.
I’m not saying thats the norm, just realize that its a very real possibility. Even more real when it happens to you, or you witness it.
Hell yeah I think the guy deserved to get his face punched in, but realize there are a lot more faggot ass pussies out there with guns (or knives) than you probably want to know.
It’s not the same as it was when my dad was in highschool, when a fight was a fight, and that was it. You never know anymore…[/quote]
I agree, that is why intimidation will win out over how tough someone thinks they are with their BJJ moves on the street. I would much rather be in a position where most people would think twice before ever approaching me, rather than be the guy who looks like a target and always has to prove himself. The latter is more likely to get shot and robbed. That isn’t to discredit self defense either. I grew up around boxing. It just seems like many on this site seem to think larger lifters can’t fight. Not only can many throw a punch, but a fist coming from someone weighing over 250lbs with any knowledge at all about how to land one will do more damage than someone 100lbs smaller. The bigger guy will also be less likely to have to use it outside of drunk people at clubs.
I would be more worried about a George Foreman right cross than whether some 155lbs kid on this site who has seen the inside of a dojo twice lands one on my nose.
