I think you have confused Anarchy with Libertarianism

Well, not “the” government…local government. I used to consider my job a legitimate government function, but have shifted away from that. The only way I justify it to myself nowadays is self-defense: almost everyone wants this, I can’t beat them by myself, so I might as well profit instead of being robbed…and it gets harder everyday to justify it to myself that way, too.[/quote]
You don’t think it’s, I don’t want to say disingenuous, but at least hypocritical that the taxes you have called theft (even analogous to rape in your words) pay your salary?
Honestly, and I don’t mean this offensively at all you’re truly one of my favorite posters, it’s hard for me to take your message seriously at this point. Do as I say not as I do comes to mind.

You still need to survive in this world.

Absolutely, I don’t have a problem with working for the government. In my eyes it’s just that, a job. I’m also not the one that used rape as an analogy for taxation though.

If you honestly feel this way aren’t you part of the problem? Honestly I love reading your posts even though we disagree on some things so I’m not trying to “catch” you and make you feel like you should quit your job. I think it would be insane to quit a good job that provides for you and yours simply because of political thoughts.

That, and somebody has to stop the bleeding. Regardless of political affiliation someone has to be aware of the bottom line and at least conceptually who works for who. Otherwise community tax dollars just become a free flowing renewable jackpot for “good ole boys”.

I apologize. I’m normally a good speller as well (honestly!). Typed this too quick I guess. If it makes you feel better in my reply here sittin is underlined red ![]()

Disingenuous probably fits better than hypocritical.
I know exactly what produces my paycheck and make no attempt to cover it up(I’ve stated a number of times that I work in government). If my choices are participating in the Houston 500 or having it become the Nick 500, I’m banging Houston.
My job would most likely exist in a free society, though my duties would be completely different. The field in which I work is pretty much cartelized(like all government).
Basic human decency makes me perform my job duties better and more fairly than most that have my job.
Even Murray Rothbard worked for the government.
If I did what I honestly believe should be done, I would probably be on my own and be killed very quickly.

-Yes, like everyone who goes along with this crap.
-Don’t worry, I know I should. It will be humorous to watch so many who have begged to be ruled for so long have no work whenever this thing really starts crashing. Being a government employee(and one of the last things the powers that be will cut), my paycheck should keep on coming until most have little left to be taxed.
-I don’t think it’s insane, but it’s highly unlikely. That’s a major reason I don’t care for giving anybody power over anybody else.
It’s a dumb idea. How many people are actually abusing the system? I bet it’s still a lot cheaper than the amount of money our country spent on the last tomahawk missile strike. Come on Raj!
I think its dumb… plus complicated and heres why…
- drug tests easy to cheat excpet expensive ones like patch hair ect
- people on dissability or other might be on opiod pain meds which flunks a test
- people on dissability might have things that prevent pee test like phobias, catheters, ect
- very expensive to staff up
- weeds legal in some areas
Just seems like a whole bunch of hassel to catch some person only getting a few hundy
I deal with tons of Section 8 people so my real world opinion says aint gonna happen slash not worth it
