Donner Cut of Superman II

For Christmas I was given the Ultimate Superman collection 14 disc set. Within the set was the Richard Donner version of Superman 2, and I must say WOW this version is so much better than than the theatricle version. I always felt that the second film in the original franchise was the best one but Donner’s original vision just blows it out of the water. Gone is most of the camp as well as the cellophane S, added more Brando instead of Kal-El’s mom in the fortress. All in all definatly one to own on DVD.

I got that for Christmas too, but haven’t watched that disc yet. I’m looking forward to it.

If you got the set there are 2 discs which are messed up and need to be replaced, I have a phone number to call to get them sent to you, I’ll post it later on. One quick piece I like how Lois finds out Clark is Superman better in the thatricle version better (Reeve was such an awesome actor)

What the hell was that cellophane S all about anyway?

I remember saying, “what the fuck” as a kid and now it makes even less sense.

The directors where switched halfway throught the filming. Origianlly the ending or 1 was going to lead directly to 2, when they switched directors the guy who replaced Donner did some brainstorming about what Supe’s could do, where the cellophane came from is anyone’s guess. But it’s worth a buy for the nerds, and the 14 disc set is for the uberdorks. There is a nice documentry with everyone talking about the filming and it was a real eye opener.
