Doing Shrooms. Advice?

Shrooms are great. If it’s your first time, like everyone else, be in a place you’re comfortable and know well, and with people you trust. The more people tripping, the better. Don’t plan to do anything, I guarantee if it was just you and two people sitting in a room watching Spongebob that’d be enough entertainment. I know a lot of people (I’m getting there,) that like to do things outdoors when tripping. Again, it’ll just come to you.

The other thing is if you start to feel any paranoia or nervousness AT ALL just think of something funny, or think to yourself, “I’m going to laugh to myself tomorrow at how paranoid I’m getting.” It’ll help calm you down. Relax! I’ve probably laughed harder than any other time in my life when I’ve taken shrooms.

“Poor Josh Scobee.”

Ok, here is some decent advice…

Make sure that you’re absolutely ready for it. The only bad trip is one that you want to end, and thats not an option.

Do what Bushy said.

Be prepared to vomit. Really. Happens to me quite a bit. The vomit is the harbinger of hallucinations. One you start tripping, you will no longer feel sick.

Have fun and be safe.

Meh. Do in the daytime with friends on a nice sunny day in the park. Don’t do it at night at a club. A warning: if you’re having a bad time and you want it to stop, that’s too damn bad. You’re in for a much longer ride than with weed, be it a good one or bad one.

Some of the people you’re with shouldn’t be shrooming either.

You don’t know enough people then. Plenty of people have bad trips…

  1. Eat far away from taking the 'shrooms.

  2. Set and setting are everything.

By set, I mean mindset. Try to do it in a peaceful state of mind. Don’t do it if you have some BIG problem going on, i.e. breakup, financial problems, did poorly on exam.
Many people also have a purpose for wanting to trip. Focus on that, if you have such a purpose.

By setting, I mean the environment around you, people, etc:

Make sure you are in a comfortable situation. Best to take it the first time with somebody you trust WHO IS NOT GOING TO TRIP BUT WHO HAS EXPERIENCE TRIPPING. In any case, don’t take it at a loud party and don’t take it around strangers or people who are likely to “fuck with your head”.

Listen to the music that you like. Be in a physical space that you find enjoyable. If you like nature, all the better, do it outside. If not, find some place that you do like.

  1. Go to the vaults over at erowid.org and read some trip experiences, if you feel so inclined.

Best advice.

I have seen people on shrooms saying they were talking to the devil and then they tryed to kill themselves.
It all depends really on what is goin on in your head before you take them.
I would never take them again i belive they are pure evil,

Steve

Yes. Don’t apply for the next Physique Clinic, or at least don’t expect a response back.

OP, this is actually very good advice. The minute you start wishing it was over, thats when all the bad stuff happens.

Be in a really really mellow fun easy going mood.

I hear picking up any brightly colored ones in the woods is SWEET

Everyone I’ve known that has used shrooms has had a bad trip. That doesn’t mean they don’t generally enjoy them.

ive taken shrooms several times, best drug imo… just avoid eating anything 4 to 5 hours before…thats about it, i havent seen any side effects besides the fact that you feel pure happiness.

It is wise to know how many grams you’re ingesting…

Have a nice trip

“once you get into locked a serious drug collection, the tendency is to push it as far as you can” F&L

I have a friend that shrooms. He says vitamin C really screws you up after shrooming.

He went to our marching band show (he’s one of the drum players), and actually did everything right, but the next day he just remembered flashes of what happened. He ended up putting like 200 miles on his car that night and had no clue where he drove.

Wow this thread is a trip down memory lane. As kids, we used to pick those suckers out of farmer’s fields, or pretty much anywhere there was grass growing. BC shrooms, not that peyote shit from Cali.
I think everyone is A+ with the advice though: peaceful situation, no driving, no school LOL.
Sit back in a field of wheat and watch the sky. Man I miss BC.

i love how on a bodybuilding website were disscusing shrooms lol

Make sure you eat enough of them to have a full blown tryp with visuals if you do them. There is a threshold level that you need to make sure you hit to have a good tryp. Its normal if you start feeling geeky.

I have a very hard time believing the above. Maybe, Maybe this might happen to someone with schizophrenia who takes shrooms. In that case, the person should not be doing any of the hallucinogens.

As for me, I take the full Terence McKenna heroic dose of 5 plus grams of dried psilocybin mushroom. I have had bad trips, if that is what you want to call them. Let’s call them unpleasant trips, because if you pay attention, those bad trips can bring into focus something very important, which is good.
Very often, bad trips will turn into good trips if you pay attention to what’s going on. This is where it is good to have a sitter, somebody who can help you hang in there.

At least for me, “bad trips” on mushroom are not full of daemons waiting to devour your or anything visual at all. There is just a sense of foreboding.

“Bad” or “Good” trip I don’t usually have visuals. There is a change in perception of space, though.

On the other hand are you sure the mushrooms they were eating were psilocybin 'shrooms? They may have been eating amanita muscaria, which isn’t a psilocybine shroom.
