Does TRT Have Real Benefits?

@dextermorgan any risks of taking those ones? Like you can’t have too much of them or something as a result of taking those amounts?

I recently started taking 5000iu vit D at lunch and 400mg magnesium glycinate before bed

Iron is the only one you need to be careful with.

Do you use metformin?
I started taking 1000mcg B12 after I started metformin, but haven’t tested B12 since. Before that it was above mid range of the reference
What would you recommend as iron supplement and are they being well absorbed?

@vonko1988
Iron 106mg elemental iron
Vitamin C 2000mg
L-lysine 1300mg

I’m not sure these tests are really a good indicator of levels, HOWEVER, I’d be curious as to them…

Where did you order from??

I have my suspicions too. You can order them off canary club dot org. Or you can look for the DUTCH dry urine test elsewhere. You’re able to order it without a doctor.

If I were in your position, with the issues you have, I’d want to look into neurotransmitter testing or, better yet, a functional doctor who can help you balance them out without drugs.

Neurotransmitters are made in the gut. So, it could be a gut problem. I’m in no position to speculate any further.

You don’t need to worry about d3 or magnesium. In fact, you can take more but you shouldn’t supplement iron with testing. You need a full panel to establish what your issue may be. For instance, heavy metal toxicity or parasites may deplete your iron. Someone who knows how to read an iron panel should be able to figure out of you just need to supplement or if you have other issues.

I have used Ancestral Supplements beef organs or beef lives supplements, but you have to be careful. It’s highly absorbative . Taking a fraction of the recommended daily dose have me iron overload. Vitamin c increases iron absorption. Calcium interferes with iron absorption. Again, test first.

I have to wonder why your b12 is so low. You may have absorption issues or your diet is terrible. I would want to figure out what’s going on. How long have you had issues (e.g. shortness of breath)? What recent labs have you had done?

Why do you take lysine?

Sounds like you overdid it cycling and that you overdo it in general. You didn’t do anything special to fix your E.D.?

What’s the symtoms of your anemia?

I was a competitive triathlete trying to win each race, everyone with that mindset over-do it. And yes, I’m type-A.

Nope, I just stopped sitting on the bike seat for 2-5 hours a day. It took about 2 years to go away.

I cycle around an hour a few days a week now.

When I took iron & vit C only my ferritin barely went up. When I added L-lysine it went up 50 points in 3 months.

Fatigue, pale skin, no motivation, bruising, etc

A lot of it is similar to low T symptoms.

Yah and thyroid.

I have low hematocrit always have but those symptoms were resolved by thyroid .

I still have trouble sleeping and my energy still isn’t where I would like it to be : but I feel fantastic.

How would I supplement to see if it helps my overall health?

@mikebarnes my diet is pretty good, I get lots of veggies and switch it up between shrimp and beef for my stir frys. Eggs and sometimes bacon for breakfast, occasional junk but not so much lately. I recently had B12 rechecked along with ferratin, haven’t got results back yet. Any need to check more iron than ferratin? I’ve had the shortness of breath for a while, also seems I get colder more easier than I used to but can’t for sure confirm that. Like I said earlier my hemoglobin was barely in range so I might be somewhat low on iron I think. I’ll definitely be checking further with my doc, at this point he thinks I’m crazy because I ask for different bloodwork every time I see him

I wouldn’t supplement iron unless you got a blood test showing you needed it. Too much iron can suck. You can take B12 today though and regardless of what your B12 levels are it’ll make you have more energy and feel better. Needs to be the right firm if B12 though.

@markis655

Your symptoms, shortness of breath and sensitivity to cold are typical for iron deficiency (or possibly another kind of anemia). Also, weakness, fatigue, paleness, bags under eyes are additional symptoms.

Your diet sounds good. I would want a full panel if I were you (serum iron, saturation, tibc, ferriti). Your ferritin can be normal and your iron low, and vice versa. Ferritin is a protein that stores iron in the body. It’s not a be-all end-all measure.

If your doctor gives you trouble you can order your own discount labs off Ultalabtests dot com. Hopefully the recent labwork catches something. You seem to have some kind of absorption issue if you consume beef and your iron/ferritin and b12 are low.

Have you donated blood in the last year? I donated blood about a year ago and it tanked my ferritin. It took me months of supplementing to get my ferritin back to normal. For months it wouldn’t budge, and it didn’t seem to budge until I supplemented vitamin c.

Thank you. I looked at all my labs and not one has my iron or b12. Only original
Hematocrit is 37 now 44

Some of us have found this out the hard way, sometimes vitamin C is all that’s’ needed if your levels are actually low.

You’d need a full iron panel with ferritin
