Does anyone believe Luigi will spend time behind bars?

okay, so their batting average is about .002 (arbitrary).
I’m comfortable rounding to the nearest 1%, making this a 0% success rate.

That will happen when I die, for the time being I’m not doing too bad at all.

Another ranting of one who possess a toddler-like understanding of politics and more specifically crapitalism Who do you think the politicians work for? Anytime a politician does something you disagree with-which is almost all the time-peel back the layers and you will find a corporation or some incredibly wealthy individuals. Your fantasy of privatization is just that- a fantasy. It just highlights the internal contradiction of crapitalism and why it can never work. We do not live in a democracy we live in an oligarchy, and it is they who make the rules for their own benefit which typically comes at our expense.

I bow down to your superior Steiner Math.

I agree with @Andrewgen_Receptors , one of the biggest problems our healthcare system has faced for a LONG time is “How do we pay for all of the uninsured Americans/illegals that, by law, the healthcare/hospital system HAS to provide services for?” I did not look up cost estimates for these segments of our population but I would be willing to guess that these costs are easily in the Billions of dollars per year. So…are hospitals supposed to just lose money, or work for free, when an illegal comes in about to give birth? Does anyone believe that hospitals would expand, build new facilities, purchase new medical devices and machines, etc if they knew they would not be making any profits?

I think the average cost these days for having a baby (well, what they bill someone with insurance) is around $30,000 (perhaps someone here has had a baby recently and can confirm this). Yes, this is obviously the “inflated” cost for someone who has insurance, but just imagine how many babies in a years time are birthed in US hospitals by women with no insurance? And that example is just ONE type of cost that is incurred by the healthcare system. You can add in just about every other medical necessity: appendectomy, heart bypass, gallbladder removal, etc etc., you get the point. Many of these operations/treatments are medical necessities and a hospital/doctor are obligated by law to provide care to everyone, regardless of their ability to provide insurance. With current healthcare costs what they are, these types of surgeries ALL cost at minimum tens of thousands of dollars, and when you throw in the more invasive/complex surgeries, this figure quickly rises into the hundreds of thousands of dollars, and even then sometimes into 7 figures!

While I also agree with many others here that our healthcare system is pretty broken and that it is a vicious cycle, with the uninsured causing the healthcare system to incur costs that go unpaid, so to make up for it hospitals etc. charge highly inflated costs to peoples’ insurance in order to recoup this money, causing everyone who has health insurance to pay higher premiums year after year after year. And this cycle never stops, so that healthcare becomes more and more expensive, but what is the solution to this? I mean, besides getting illegals the fuck out of our country, which will at least help to slow the increases…not stop it as many US citizens have no health insurance.

Castoli, all I know is that pretty boy Luigi WILL spend a long time behind bars, and it will be really hard time. Luigis punk ass will earn a lot of cigarettes.

Uninsured individuals including illegals is a drop in the bucket. It is less than 2%.

Preventable Chronic Diseases: $1–1.3+ trillion.
Administrative Waste: $950 billion.
Prescription Drugs: $600+ billion.
Fraud: $68–300+ billion.
Uninsured Care: $50–70 billion.

All the entitled, unhealthy POS are the biggest drain on the system.

Yeah, I can totally believe that all of the lazy, obese people in this country are the main cost to the system, given being lazy and obese contribute to SO MANY health issues down the road. The sad part is that it’s a perfect example of “oh, I’m not having any issues right now, so it must be okay”, and so these people continue to just get fatter and unhealthier, until they start to get into their 40s, 50s and up and they’re facing diabetes, advanced heart disease, severe musculoskeletal issues, etc…problems that are often costly to treat.

But I still wouldn’t call $50-70 BILLION a drop in the bucket. Billions of dollars is not a small number, and I can’t imagine that if that figure did not have to be covered by someone, that it wouldn’t help alleviate increased costs for taxpaying Americans who pay for insurance premiums.
Also, that figure will grow exponentially as the uninsured/illegal population ages. Besides the tiny fraction of illegals who will attempt to get actual US citizenship, most will not and continue to work jobs that do not take taxes out of their pay, so no contribution to the US tax system at all. At least with a good percent of the uninsured, they still work jobs where taxes are taken out of their paychecks…their employer either doesn’t offer health insurance or they cannot afford to buy their own/don’t want to.

Yup, fatties are a big drain on the system. My wife is a surgical nurse and over 75% of the Medicare joint replacements are for morbidly obese losers.

Just popping in, are we still debating the merits of private vs govt insurance for affordability while ignoring medical costs themselves? Just in a different thread without all the inconvenient discussions and links in the original?

I wonder whether there’s some relation between health insurance and medical costs…or between medical costs and prohibitions on sales of XYZ without a prescription.

Seems a little far fetched.

At a TV snippet, that was close to the prison holding Luigi, the prisoners were heard screaming free Luigi. So I doubt it.

And who is there to make sure this stays a reality?

All with help and prodding of Big Food.

Hey, I just found where we agree on something, cool!
