I just think he saw himself as a hero or martyr acting in the name of justice. He was “fighting” against corporate greed and a broken system. He had to be caught to be turned into a symbol.
That this was a patsy, the real guy got away as planned, and now there’s social awareness of healthcare issues… as in, problems with the Healthcare issues are mainstream enough that people can be outraged and somewhat educated about it.
The outrage breeds cries for government involvement to “fix” the issue, which will inevitably be voted in because popular subject, allowing for all sorts of behind-the-scenes fuckery to be pork barrelled in.
All in the name of “government help”.
More than likely, a bill proposed to fix these issues but will do exactly the opposite - which was always the intent.

Seems like weird timing.
Wouldn’t it make more sense to set this all up under a Democratic President and Democratic Congress, who might be more likely to pass a health care spending related bill?

Probably, unless it flies in under the radar as a “trumpcare” style plan where it’s supposedly going to cost less money and be more effective.
While I agree this is actually possible, I’m not such a believer in either party to think that this would actually benefit The People™.
I like Trump, I believe in just about everything he’s doing, but I don’t fully trust that he isn’t part of the elitist cabal. I just know he makes my paychecks stretch farther and he makes changes that align with my values.
