Dodgin’ Dadbods: Fortitude Training

Finally! Somebody on here gets me.

Hell yes!

A guy a tractor supply butted into a convo I was having with one of the women that work there. Said he liked meat. All he had to do was shake his deer feeder and the deer come. I told him all I have to do is plant the garden and the deer come. That way I can have meat AND vegetables. End of conversation.

I am not quite a doomsday prepper but I do believe in being prepared. Maybe not quite as apocalypse ready as I once was, but we would aight.

SSB squats

160x5
200x5
240x5
200 5x5

Accessory work was leg extensions, hip abduction and adduction, and a long stretch session. Shoulders and elbows felt a bit sore today so I nixed the upper body work in favor of some extra leg work and restorative stuff. Dinner is salmon and asparagus.

I’m thinking of programming a deload after this week- relatively low intensity but a good amount of volume. I have tried the “week off” deload and it’s literally the worst thing ever - when I come back everything feels heavy and it’s usually when I tweak something. I’ll probably do something like 10x5 at 70% for my main lifts followed by LISS. Use the reps to focus on speed. 70% of a conservative 85% TM is very light, for anyone thinking that’s a lot.

Thanks dude, you’re looking awesome as usual but the carb-up has you lookin thiccccc already.

Also gimme an inch or two off those quads please.

Perhaps we can do a shoulder for quad trade?

You might want to find someone who has big shoulders for that, not somebody whose shoulders look big-ish in a front double biceps pose with favorable lighting. I have an enormous ass, you can have an inch of glutes and an inch of height for an inch off each quad.

Superset incline dbs and lat pulldowns for 5x10, then machine abs for 5x15

Took my kids to the playground and did 2 hours of skating on the blacktop. I realized I used to push mongo, meaning I would push with my left foot, then have to put my foot up on the board and move my right foot back to get in position, instead of pushing with my right foot, and just putting my right foot on the back of the board and already being in position. Very frustrating and I feel like I can’t balance properly, but I’m going to just keep going and it’ll click - unlearning bad habits is 2x as hard as learning new ones, so I may as well just accept it. Also, holy crap, forgot how much of a shin/ankle workout it is.

I’ve never really skated, but I’ve realized how my body has been slacking off since childhood. I’m a wreck after swimming a few laps and going off the diving board a half dozen times. I used to live in the water and was fearless on the board. Now I’m scared and it hurts.

Dude, I’m totally scared to eat it on the skateboard. I did a few rolls on the concrete just to make sure I react properly when I inevitably fall. Last time I went on a trampoline EVERYTHING hurt, so I think it’s just a matter of getting used to impact again.

Jokers: 420x5, 440x3, 480x1 PR

I was just absolutely murdered after the deads, felt tired waking up and knew it was gonna be a drag, but ended up busting out a PR that moved pretty well. My assistance was just DB tri extensions and DB curls for 5x10 each, no abs or anything else, and left. Hoping the weather clears up for more skating later, in the meantime, have A&P homework to do.

Alright, so that’s 2 full cycles of SVR II. Went great overall. I think it’s probably a good time for a deload week, especially with me hoping to get in some skating every day. I don’t do well with true deloads in terms of doing nothing all week, but I’m thinking just 3 days, either a 5x5 or a classic 3x10 on my big lift. Shit, might just do a classic 3x10 with all exercises. Good ol’ 3x10 - I remember when I thought it was pretty much the only thing you could do in the gym.

I like hitting a REALLY stupid workout at the start of the deload week so I am forced to spend the whole week recovering. I got some ideas if you wanna go that route, haha.

Feeling beat up from the intensity? I assume that’d be why 7th week deload isn’t on the table.

Is this a gym bro thing? I remember trying sets of 5 BEFORE learning that 5x5 was a common rep scheme

A deadlift workout that led to a PR and fatigued day after seems sufficient :muscle:

He’s pwn , he doesn’t seem to understand what “sufficient” means for most other ppl :joy: Although, @flappinit might be better off listening to pwn given what he’s proven himself capable of

Just 1 rep, haha
