That is what a normal HSPU is, in my book. Doing it via a real handstand is a balance move for gymnastics, not a strength move.

As far as I’m aware, a burpee is chest to ground, then up to a jump. The pushup seems to be more or less optional, but at speed, you’d barely notice it anyway. No-one is doing super strict burpees, hence the inclusion in the list above.
I have seen thousands of burpees in my time. And literally never a “good” one. They would probably be amazing if people did not cheat.
yep, I used to do them without the pushup and my PE teacher/crossfit coach told me that was a no rep
It’s a formality so you don’t slam your face into the ground when trying to get your chest to touch

@dagill2 @Cyrrex you guys are making me feel weird, haha. My squad leader in the Marines was pretty strict about our burpees. When I did my 100 burpees (in 22 minutes or something really slow), I did them all strict. Down onto hands, kick legs back, full range push-up til chest touches ground and arms lock out at top, legs in while pushing back to land in a bottom squat position, jump, repeat.
So conflicted between the simultaneously encouraging and ominous tones of that message…

Gearing up for another Deep Water run. My quad is still not healed, unfortunately, so I’m hoping it’ll hold up. It did today, but it was pretty uncomfortable to start and I felt it after squats. Doesn’t hurt now, though, hopefully that blood flow is helping heal it.
Unfortunately, gonna have to wait on DW for next week. Wife was exhausted, kids were nightmares and by the time I could get to the gym after my wife got home (gym daycare is closed indefinitely), I had 40 minutes til the gym closed under its modified new hours. So I did a quick full body workout and will just do similar stuff to last week. I’m still busting out PRs, fortunately, so no big deal.

100 foot elevated pushups on knuckles, got through 50 the first set and then it was lots of rest pause to finish.
I wanna try for 315x20 on Friday and shoot a video of it. Let’s see what happens! I hitched the last 3 reps a bit, and was very very burnt out after that.
