What time do the little ones go to bed? Too late to train after?
I’ve just liked several of you posts Flap. I have not been around for 4 or 5 days in here, it started with you being frustrated about training at home with the kids. I would have gone insane if I had to do it with my kids around, you can’t tell a 3 year old to do something the next hour because dad is going to lift a stupid bar.
The last post about doing stupid hard workouts because that got you to becoming a badass in the marines I liked a lot. Makes sense doing what you know works.
I hope your gym opens or you can find the magic solution at home.
Well done on that crazy 10x10 dl that sounds freaking brutal.
This is something I can wholeheartedly understand.
I follow Greg’s system because it’s given me the best results, not because it’s enjoyable in the slightest.
You boys and @T3hPwnisher should start a club ![]()
I must say, I quite enjoyed the swings (except for the grip problems) and deep water sounds very fun
We don’t have the same vision about having fun.
I’ve looked through the program, I even wrote it out and looked at it.
Fun wasn’t the first thought, pain maybe.
It’s amazing the first time you get it on paper and go “Oh what the f**k is this?”
My thoughts on this are that Deep Water becomes a very different program once your squat and deadlift maxes start going north of 400lbs.
very true. Unfortunately, a 4+x bodyweight squat and deadlift are not likely anytime soon- not being defeatist, just a realist
I agree 100%, I’m in the same boat. I was just saying that I believe absolute weight definitely has an impact on the training effect you get with this kind of workout, not just relative weight.
Hungarian Oak Leg Blast. Do it. It’s beautifully horrific.
Yeah, massive super humans generally don’t take weak midgets like me into consideration when writing programs ![]()
I think if you do the program you’d find that you would suffer too, it’s a matter of finding the right weight to use. As those who have done the program says the first 6 - 7 sets is quite easy and then the problem begins.
You could try it out sometime.
It does for sure. Your nervous system comes more into play the more the weight goes up. Doing something like DW will become exponentially more difficult as the weight goes up, because it will just fry your nerves.
At 8, but then the lifting space is either under their rooms or outside of them so it’s not possible. My house just isn’t very big and has no garage.
Pretty much in the same situation but…I’m lucky I live on some land in the sticks. They get bored with Dad in the garage and go off and do whatever. But there are times I’m annoyed usually because they don’t realize they are about to kill themselves by falling over on the powertec machine or brain themselves on a dumbbell or whatever is out. Your kids are about the same age as mine. My annoyance comes from fear (usually) of them hurting themselves while I’m squatting in the rack and can’t stop whatever monstrosity is about to happen.
Mine are 2 and 4 and I genuinely live in fear of them of them coming round the corner while I’m in the middle of squatting and trying to hug my leg, which is their usual reaction to “daddies home”.
I often have to piss in a bottle or get changed in my garage to make sure they don’t know I’m there.
I’m fortunate my garage is in the gym so my kids can’t just walk in but I’ll often get asked if I they can come and train, they’ve joined me several times (bit older than most here at 7 and 10, but mostly 7 year old wants in) but it’s stressful and I’ve learned not to even expect to be able to train when they’re in there - I was helping the 10 year old out the other day and the 7 year old had got up to the chin up bar (about 7 ft high) hurt himself and got stuck just hanging there, that was in the space of about 15 seconds of back turned - gyms aren’t safe for kids haha.
One time I held my little brother up to the pullup bar, and after hanging for a bit he said “OK come get me I’m gonna fall.” As I walked towards him he let go right as I was about to grab him and his elbow came down hard on my nose. Made a pretty big mess, haha.
I’m a jerk. My kids know that the weight room is off limits. If they want to come in then they have to wear shoes first. They also have to hold still when I’m doing something and wait for me to tell them it’s their turn. My 7 year old daughter gets it and does just fine.
I just don’t want them to get hurt. I also don’t want to get hurt. I don’t need to twist during a squat or deadlift because kid gets in the way or bumps me. I explain to them that it’s for everyone’s safety and they seem to understand that.
